Shams-ud-Din Iltutmish death anniversary passed without many people remembering him. Founder of the Delhi Sultanate he died on 30 April 1236. He was was 3rd of the Mamluk kings who ruled northern India n 1st Muslim sovereign to rule from Delhi.

Following Aibek's death #Iltutmish beat Aram Shah in 1211, became king and and set up his capital at Delhi. After strengthening his grip on North India, he expanded in north east and laid strong foundation of the Sultanate that lasted till 1524 when Babur defeated Ibrahim Lodi
