1 In #Tunisia there were 1025 confirmed cases of #COVID19 as of 7 May. The country has responded to the threat of #COVID19 with a strong lockdown from 22 March to 3 May, with an Oxford Stringency Index of 90.61. The lockdown had a strong negative effect on employment and income.
2 As a compensation measure #CashTranfers of max TND 200 (USD70) were established for both #FormalWorkers and registered #SelfEmployed with suspended or reduced work activity and for poor and vulnerable hhs in the social registry. See the decrees: bit.ly/3bbo9MB
3 Application for #FormalWorkers had to be done online helpentreprise.social.tn by their employers as long as they fulfilled these criteria: bit.ly/3bePmOy. Registered #SelfEmployed could also apply online through the platform batinda.gov.tn.

1/11 As of 30 April, there were 4,359 confirmed cases of #COVID19 in #Morocco. The country has put in place strong confinement measures with an Oxford Stringency Index of 80.95. The partial lockdown led 57% of firms to suspend their activities and lay off workers.
2/11 #CashTransfer schemes for both affected #FormalWorkers and #InformalWorkers were announced and are being implemented as part of the government responses to #COVID19. They are financed through a special fund to fight #COVID19. See @financesmaroc: bit.ly/3cZJwC5.
3/11 The fund started with MAD 10B (USD 1B) from the general budget. @CnssMaroc contributed with MAD 500M from its #UnemploymentInsurance branch. See bit.ly/2KJsyvq. Combined with other donations the fund has reached MAD 32B by 24 April.

1. News: Brazil’s #SocialProtection response to the #COVID19. A congress-led bill establishing an emergency basic income to #InformalWorkers was signed by the President yesterday. The BRL 600 (60% of the #MinimumWage) benefit will be paid for 3 months w/ possibility of extension.
2. Who are the targeted informal workers? i) microentrepreneurs; ii) contributors as self-employed to #SocialSecurity; or iii) informal workers who are registered in the Single Registry or with family incomes as per eligibility criteria 4 below:
3. Criteria: i) 18 years old or more; ii) Not a formal worker; iii) Not a recipient of other gov. transfers, except Bolsa Familia; iv) Per capita family income lower than ½ minimum wage or total family income lower than 3 min. wage; v) Annual taxable income lower than BRL 28.560.
