Oops they’re doing it again. Republican members of Congress want to be seen as voting in lockstep with their party but they also want credit when the legislation crafted & passed by #Democrats pay huge dividends for their constituents. #WeSeeYou👀 1/20 #DemocratsDeliver
This article, from Jan. 20, 2022 By Steve Benen tells the story of the double-dealing, mealy-mouthed, two-faced, weaselly, yellow-bellied, two-timing, lying Republican swine. The article doesn’t use those words but draw your own conclusions. 2/20 msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/ncna…

Get rid of the SALT tax cut for the wealthy and the bank surveillance and someone write an intelligible bill. I support child tax credit permanently with work requirement. Incoherence does NOT sell. @JoeBiden @SenSchumer @SpeakerPelosi
Did any of YOU read the Senate bill? It is gobbledygook. Shame on you "legislators" for such sloppiness. NO FED FUNDING AGENCY WOULD FUND YOU. You make it embarrassing to be a Democrat. Make bills focused, limited scope and paid for! SALT is 2nd most expensive item in bill.
The bipartisan #InfrastructureBill was exemplary and is HOW our government should function. Pelosi & Schumer have created this partisanship. The WORST ever, except Newt. Don't reward them with tax cuts for the rich. Orwellian surveillance of small business & ALL bank accounts.

The bad provisions in the #InfrastructureBill might be the law, but the fix bill these Senators have introduced is a clear signal:

🔥The fight for a common sense approach to new tech that doesn't entrench Zuck as Ruler of web3 is not over.

In fact, safe/secure bike parking/storage is the biggest impediment to me using my #ebike even more.

Benchmark Lithium prices - Battery Grade, EXW China @benchmarkmin

Nov 2018 $11,875
Nov 2019 $7,950
Nov 2020 $6,100
Today $30,025

Structural shortage is set to hit in 2022.

Lithium carbonate prices are at all time highs but easy to see them soar above $40k in 2022
Lithium is the key element that this entire low carbon economy is being built on. With low cost energy storage en masse, speed, scale and economics will fall apart

The passed £1 Trillion US #InfrastructureBill is set to send lithium into a super bull market next year.
The White House has identified lithium ion batteries as a core technology.

“We will get America off the sidelines on manufacturing solar panels, wind farms, batteries, and electric vehicles to grow these supply chains”

I'm trying to throw as many life preserves as I can. This moment now, it's the Titanic.

If the Bipartisan bill passed, and they bipartisanly voted in a Republican Governor... What does that say?

It is a sinking ship. #InfrastructureBill
Trump won, and @FoxNews is correct.

The Biden Administration had energy independence because of Trump.

Now that we are switching oil for lithium, will we have to pay the Chinese for that... while they extract it and the wealth from Mexico. Our partners to the south?
Makes ya wonder why our production went down, yet, we have enough money to pay inflated oil prices from possibly embargoed nations due to their affiliation with known terrorist groups.

Right?!

All while over 100 Million people are without work right now in America.

BREATHTAKING—$1.2 trillion for infrastructure will be revolutionary. This will be a monumental achievement when it’s finally signed. The modernizations and electric ⚡️ car infrastructure upgrades will be epic too. Thx @JoeBiden @SpeakerPelosi @WHCOS.

2) Notably, the #infrastructurebill would provide:
$110 billion for roads and bridges. More than 45,000 bridges nationwide are rated in poor condition. The bill also includes $16 billion for major projects that are too large or complex for traditional funding.
3) $66 billion for Amtrak for passenger and freight rail. The bill aims to eliminate Amtrak’s maintenance backlog and to modernize Northeast Corridor.
$65 billion to expand broadband internet access. The WH estimated as many as 40 million Americans lack broadband access.

This was what I worried would happen with @Booker4KY. Not be on the offensive with @RandPaul, who's an abysmal, but only on the defensive when need to. Just like the @KyDems always do, which is a losing strategy. But Booker's running on policies that are materially popular!!!
Here's a fun fact about running in an election... If you run as an Aggressive & Offensive Candidate with Policies that help the People & their Material Well-being, then you win.
Here's how I know; In the 2015 Midterms, @AlanGrayson of the @FlaDems, he won with no problem. He was unapologetic when being a "#Progressive", stands up with his Principles & goes for the Jugular in Political Ads at his Opponents on how their Policies are Wrong, Evil & Bad &...

Lots to like in the #InfrastructureBill, esp that public investment is back.
For me, the Q is always about scale & direction.
E.g.
-US school bus fleet 480,000
-Cost per bus $100,000-$300,000 (electric cost more)
-Fleet replacement cost $48b-$144b +
-Infrastructure bill: $7.5b🧵
Allocation to address inequities from gentrification and the highway system: $1b

That's approx what it costs to build 100-200miles of highway. I.e., a very small amount to redress decades of legacy investments in an interstate hwy system that ripped through many communities.
$1.25b appropriated for Appalachian Development to connect remote communities from 13 Appalachian states from NY to AL. Given above hwy building costs, you know that funding is a drop in the bucket, given objectives.

Top 5️⃣ Lessons Learned Debating Crypto Policy with the U.S. Senate

As we reflect on the industry’s efforts with the #infrastructurebill, I’d like to share my thoughts on the key lessons we learned as a community and what we can do to keep moving forward.

Thread 👇
1️⃣ More education is needed 1️⃣ Many in Congress badly need a crypto education. Most Members had their first deep dive into the technology during this legislative debate. Now we must proactively engage with policymakers so they have a deeper knowledge of these innovations.
The best way to understand a new technology is to try it out. The Chamber’s initiative, Crypto for Congress, was created especially for elected officials.

56.03/ Honored with #haftara yesterday but it had been so long since I last did one that my eyesight has gotten bad enough that I was juggling a mask, fogged glasses, & the too small print of even a full-size Artscroll. And why did Yeshayahu have to make up so many weird words?!

1/ Dear Senators, still confused about why the @markwarner amendments (yes, all 5 of them) fall short of fixing the #crypto provision in the #infrastructurebill? Here are 3 things you need to know.
2/ FIRST: *Crypto networks are operated by the community, not companies.* Yes, there are companies that support these networks, but the real work is done by unaffiliated network participants.
3/ This means there isn’t a big corporation hiring a bunch of software developers, writing proprietary software, and investing in hardware to offer an online service.

1/ Attention US Senators - curious how this obscure, little industry called “crypto” has been able to be so effective in Washington this past week? Let me explain to you crypto’s 3 SUPERPOWERS...
2/ SUPERPOWER #1: #Crypto has a *very big* and *very passionate* user/participant base. This includes the 50+ million people in the US who hold crypto assets.
3/ But it also includes the thousands of individuals & businesses contributing to network operations. Unlike traditional financial services & Internet platforms, crypto networks are built, operated & maintained by a COMMUNITY of participants.

THREAD: The Biden admin has been talking a big game about being "tough on Big Tech" and Silicon Valley monopolies. But right now they're quietly defending a provision in the #InfrastructureBill that targets software developers who are trying to build alternatives to Big Tech
Here's what's going on: the administration has been pushing a "pay-for" measure in the bipartisan infrastructure package that would expand US government surveillance of #cryptocurrency projects. @EFF has a good summary of concerns with the provision here: eff.org/deeplinks/2021…
The provision has been sold as being about taxes. But it's so poorly written that it would create reporting requirements that would demand people like software developers and even volunteers within decentralized tech projects hand over data or conduct surveillance of their users.
