THREAD. Please RT🙏🏼
1. Public breakdown. It’s my mom’s 76th b-day Thurs. She’s my sole caregiver from a bad car accident resulting in a #TBI. R Home #Foreclosed from my #medical bills/crappy #insurance. All I wanted 2 tell her is I found #investors to charitably save our home.⤵️
2. I know accidents are called that for a reason but my mom’s my best friend & everyday/hour she’s helping care for me. After all she has done & years she’s lost taking care of me, she doesn’t deserve to lose her/our forever home in the last 1/4 of her life w/a #disabled daughter
3. How can I recover and find an #angelInvestor that can save such a wonderful mother/daughter duo? We’re in our home paying rent as ordered by the court until an appeal is over & we’ll be out w/nowhere to go, live, survive. No family. We only have each other & our 3 ‘lil pups.

About 10 years ago, I was walking home from a slow-pitch baseball game and party with my team. I was a bit drunk, so I walked instead of driving. On the way home I was mugged from behind and woke up in the Rockyview Hospital in #YYC, with a #TBI #concussion. (1 of 13)
I've had multiple concussions from athletics. Football, hockey, rugby & skiing, plus ran over by a car, not once but twice. (think Super Dave Osborne) plus what I have learned since, repeated mildTBIs from the sports. Likely result, I have #CTE. I get worse each year, not better.
Here is what is happening now. I retired from my business some years ago and stopped working completely, 3.5 years ago. I have other progressive diseases besides #CTE, like #COPD #Arthritis #Cancer and more. It is a heavy load and crippling my abilities.

Hello & Happy Spring! (Thread) If you haven’t been on here til 1am EST, I’m going to unpack recently announced #opioid bill S-724 (named for John McCain). For reax check out threads by @erinbiba and @AnaMardoll (call @gillibrandNY ASAP to protest bill.) Onto the breakdown:
Sen. Gillibrand introduced this bill with a flip referral to dental work and a misunderstanding of the term “acute pain”. #AcutePain does not mean ‘severe’ in medical terms, it means pain lasting up to/less than 6mos. If you’ve ever had a gunshot wound,
been in/had a serious accident, needed extensive surgery, had #fibromyalgia #arthritis #endometriosis or #pelvicpain #backpain -just to name a few-you may know that sometimes one needs more than 7 days of pain meds.

My name is Lelena.

I am a #ChronicPain patient.

I am required to pee in a cup monthly to show #compliance to my #LowDose #opioid regimen.

I am painted as despicable, helpless, & #unclean by the powers that be.

I am a modern-day #Leper.

#EndStigma #PainLeper
Newsflash, America:

I'm not JUST a #ChronicPain patient.

I am not helpless.

I am not #unclean.

I am not #despicable.

I don't just use #pills to overcome my #SeverePain.

I refuse all #stigma, misconceptions, assumptions, and #labels.

I am an #Overcomer.
I will be criticized for calling myself a #ChronicPain patient.

People will say: she wallows in illness. She enjoys it! She IDENTIFIES with her pain.

Wrong. It is part of my reality. I must face it & battle it daily.

And I do. Despite all the negativity I face from others.

I signed this petition. I never sign online petitions. But #Afflicted cannot be allowed to stand. chn.ge/2LcFWGj via @Change
Documentaries are meant to give a view of a subject or topic on a FACTUAL basis. Their opinion isn't supposed to be centered unless the subject is themselves.
#Afflicted is heavily slanted toward the erroneous assumption that the chronically ill patients are

faking,

have psychological illnesses rather than physical diseases,

or somehow in denial.

And I ask you- to what end?
