Here is why I believe the very large part of #Amhara/#Ethiopia political, religious media, academic, business, art elites continue to be a cause for innocent Amharas getting slaughtered all over #Ethiopia.

It starts with their toxic & dangerous politics.
❗Thread 2/10
Their toxic rhetoric, their idiotic alliances with elements, who're dangers to #Amhara people like #IsaiasAfwerki & @AbiyAhmedAli their unending love & nostalgia of medieval times kings & princes earned the #Amhara people enemies across #Ethiopia & made it a target
❗Thread 3/10
Its political "leaders" organize lawless bandits like 'Fano', and send them to all directions to wreck havoc on peoples of #Tigray #Gumuz #Oromia and made the people friend-less, ally-less and made #Amhara people target of unending attack.

As Jan. 2022 draws to a close, we focus on the #Irob minority of #Tigray. Jan. 7 was the 1️⃣ year anniversary of the #IrobMassacre by 🇪🇷 forces in which at least 72 people were killed as they celebrated Christmas.

More on the massacre while under 🇪🇷 occupation since Nov. 2020👇🏾
Without electricity, telecommunication services, the internet & access to most of the district, Irob remains largely cut off from the rest of the world. But we know the #Irob continue to face an existential threat under #Eritrea|n occupation.
#IrobMassacre #AllowAccessToTigray
We honor all the victims of the #IrobMassacre, known and yet to be accounted for. We also honor and remember those who were kidnapped during #Eritrea’s last occupation of #Irob (1998-2000) who are never forgotten.

It is a depressing day for me!
To hear that #UN declared famine in #Ethiopia, on top of rape, murder, foreign invasion & wanton murder om #Tigray has been the most bitter pill to swallow.
❗Thread 2/10
As a very young, FOB in America, I remember watching 2000 Sydney Olympics, when Ethiopian athletes won their races, the broadcast cutting away to 1984/95 famine to remind viewers of the #Ethiopia they came from. My heart used to sink with embarrassment than joy.
❗Thread 3/10
During those days, I endured crude jokes about "famished Ethiopians", as if there is NOTHING more than that about a country and people, where I came from. That was also the time, #Ethiopia was invaded by the same man, #IsaiasAfwerki that's causing this misrey today

#Eritrea: Portrait of a zombified state:

(A Thread)

On #COVID19, #Ethiopia’n civil war, #Tigray, #TPLF, #Refugees. (1)
#Eritrea is state where fiction pales when compared to everyday reality. Complete information blackout, #PFDJ’s utter disregard of domestic affairs, citizens increasingly growing indifference combined, have created a new reality or close to reality TV show. (2)
Since April 1, it has enforced the strictest lockdown. No public transport; schools (except the military school in Sawa) still closed & no hint of opening; public places closed. Gov. boasts for putting #COVID19 under control but no hope of easing the lockdown: it served well. (3)
