A sadhu standing next to me on Ram Chabutra took a bullet on his forehead when the firing began. He crumbled into a heap.

துர்வாசர் கோபப்பட்டு சபிப்பதில் வல்லவர். மற்ற முனிவர்கள் எல்லாம் கோபப்பட்டு சபித்தால் தங்கள் தவ சக்தியில் ஒரு பகுதியை இழந்து விடுவர். பின் மீண்டும் அந்த இழந்த சக்தியை பெற பலவருடங்கள் தவம் மேற்கொள்ளவேண்டும். ஆனால் துர்வாச முனிவரோ கோபப்பட்டு சபித்தால் அவர் தவ-சக்தி பலம் பெருகும்.
அதனால் அவர் வெகு எளிதில் கோபப்பட்டு சபித்து விடுவார். சீடர்களுடன் தன் அவைக்கு வந்த துர்வாசமுனிவரை வரவேற்ற ராமன் அவர் பாதங்களில் விழுந்து வணங்கி எழுந்து ஒரு ஆசனத்தில் அமரவைத்து பாத பூஜை செய்து, மகரிஷியே தாங்கள் வேண்டுவது யாதாகினும் கூறுக அடியேன் செய்ய காத்திருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

ఇంద్రజిత్తు (మేఘనాధుడు) తో యుద్ధం చేసిన లక్ష్మణుడు అతడు చేసిన అస్త్రప్రయోగంతో మూర్ఛపోతాడు. రక్తపుమడుగులో ఉన్న తమ్ముడిని చూసిన రాముడికి ఎక్కడలేని దుఃఖం వచ్చి సుశేషునితో ఈ విధంగా అంటాడు.

నా ప్రాణానికి ప్రాణమైన లక్ష్మణుని ఈ స్థితిలో చూసి నా శక్తి క్షీణించిపోతోంది. ఒకవేళ లక్ష్మణుడు మరణిస్తే, నా జీవితానికి, సంతోషానికి అర్దమేముంది? నా వీరత్వం సిగ్గుపడుతోంది. చేతి నుంచి ధనుస్సు పడిపోయినట్టుంది. బాణాలు జారిపోతున్నాయి. కన్నీరుతో కళ్ళు నిండి దృష్టి కూడా కనిపించడంలేదు.
