Jagannath Puri dham is located on the shore of Bay of Bengal. And in the city we have the world famous temple of MahaPrabhu Jagannath, the Prabhu of the entire universe.
It is said that as the mandir is near the sea so the water of the sea used to enter the city and upto the temple bringing discomfort to the devotees. Once Varuna wanted to take darshan of the Prabhu so he went to the temple and as a result the city got flooded.
The residents wanted there should be someone who could prevent the water from the sea entering the mandir. Now who could do this herculean task. It is but natural that MahaPrabhu Jagannath turned towards Hanuman who during the time of Prabhu Rama
WHAT IS ANASARA PATTI ?
During the bathing festival of Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath (Deva Snana Purnima) the Sri Jiews of the temple have a bath with 108 pots of cold water to fight the heat of summer.

After this royal bath ceremony the three Jiews are sick and they stay away from the public view for a period of 15 days. This period is known as 'Anasara' or 'Anavasara' period commences from Jyestha purnima and ends with Ashadha amavasya.

During these days the Sri Jiews stay away from the public view and there is a need for substitute images for the public and to whom daily rituals can be offered at temple, so during this time three patta paintings of Sri Jagannath, Sri Balabhadra & Maa Subhadra are worshipped

14-16వ శతాబ్దంలో కటకం రాజధానిగా పాలించారు గజపతులు. కటకం నుండి కావేరి వరకు బంగాళాఖాత తీర ప్రాంతం ఒకప్పుడు వీరి ఎలుబడిలో ఉండేది.

రాజే స్వయంగా చీపురు పట్టే 'చేర పహారా ' సంప్రదాయం గురించి తెలుసుకున్న కంచి రాజు తన కుమార్తెను ఒక 'పనివాడికి' ఇవ్వడానికి ఒప్పుకోడు. విషయం తెలుసుకున్న పురుషోత్తమ దేవుడు ఇది తనకు, తన రాజ్యానికి ముఖ్యంగా తాము కొలిచే దేవుళ్ళకు అవమానంగా భావించాడు.

1. Here are a few important clarifications on yesterday's Order of d SC in the #Jagannath Puri Temple Petition. It is not a "judgement", it is only an order at this point.The recommendations of the District Judge wrt Jagannath Temple are not final. Read Para 5 of order
2. The media,especially Deccan Chronicle,is distorting yesterday's Order to give d impression that d SC has directed that non-Hindus also be allowed entry into #Jagannath Temple subject to certain conditions.This is untrue.D Order clearly says it is a mere suggestion to consider
3. All stakeholders to Temple Management have the opportunity to now present their views to the Amicus Mr. Gopal Subramanium and the Committee to the constituted by the Union Government. This is the time to impress upon the Government to #FreeOurTemples.
