#JohnWick4 was an absolute BLAST! Bigger in pretty much every conceivable way—from locations to choreography to cinematography—I was stunned for most of its (long!) runtime. I’m not yet sure if it’s the best in the series, but I do think it should be the last. I have thoughts…
Firstly, I’m *very* glad I saw #JohnWick4 in IMAX. The visuals and sound design fully deserved the biggest, loudest experience possible. Those first few punches blew me away and **literally shook** my seat. I was sold within the first 30 seconds…
Keane Reeves needs no introduction. As Wick, he does what he does best—fight—with a vulnerability that makes his actions seem more consequential than, say, Tom Cruise’s stoic Ethan Hunt.

But more so than previous chapters, #JohnWick4 is bolstered by a superb supporting cast…

Early in his Hollywood career, #JohnWick director Chad Stahelski had carved out a niche in stunts, a lanky 6-foot-1 fighter who could do the splits & backflip on command. He almost missed the opportunity of a lifetime by turning down work on “The Matrix.”
Because he had a steady gig on NBC’s “The Pretender,” he decided against working on the film. But after production delays, he got another chance and took it, becoming Keanu Reeves stunt double and a coordinator on the sequels.
By the time Reeves was mulling the indie neo-noir thriller that would become 2014’s #JohnWick, he knew that Stahelski and fellow stunt veteran David Leitch could work as second-unit directors on studio action pics.

#JohnWick director Chad Stahelski went to USC because of its proximity to Dan Inosanto’s famed martial arts academy in Marina del Rey and found himself training with legends at 17 and meeting Brandon Lee, whom he doubled on “The Crow.”
Some of his first breaks came in the early ‘90s from genre auteur Albert Pyun, who put him in B-movies like “Brainsmasher: A Love Story” and “Nemesis 2: Nebula.”
“Albert took me under his wing and had me play small parts and learn how to do stunts. That led to everything,” Stahelski said of the late filmmaker, who died last year.

The #JohnWick team, including Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski, learned of Lance Riddick's death on Friday. “We were destroyed when it happened,” Stahelski said.

Over the weekend they added a tribute to Reddick to the film's credits.
“We went up to Keanu’s room and had a whole meeting and there was no talk, there was no decision — everybody just knew the right thing to do,” said the director. “When you have that many people who love someone, you just know.”
Although “John Wick 4” had already screened in New York, Toronto and in Austin at SXSW, the decision was swiftly made on Friday to update the finished film’s credits with a dedication card in time for the L.A. premiere.

‘John Wick’ prequel series ‘The Continental’ is on the move. The series is moving from Starz to NBCU streamer Peacock…
The unusual move comes more than four years after the project was first unveiled by the premium cable network…

I’m devastated by the death of a DP by a prop gun. A few thoughts (thread):

Armorers are amazing professionals to work with, but maybe it’s time that we stop shooting blanks entirely & make it the policy to only use Airsoft guns (or similar) & muzzle flash in post.
From a filmmaking perspective, blanks SUCK. They’re extremely dangerous and under the best of circumstances they eat time.
Every time you have to shoot a scene with blanks, you’re going to lose 30 minutes to safety meetings, passing out ear plugs to the entire crew, setting up plexiglass and plywood, on and on. It has to be done to avert tragedies like this. And it doesn’t always work.
