Since I'm Asmat's lawyer, I feel the record needs to be put straight as the bit in the tweet being referred to (below) about my address to the court misrepresents what I stated at the bar.

I raised a very simple but critical objection: the accused are entitled to examine, understand & receive all evidence against them bef charge can be framed. It would be unfair to consider adequate the provision of the prosecution statements (list provided)

as it would violate the right to a fair trial guaranteed in art.10A of the constitution.
You would appreciate that charge cannot be framed unless the accused examine, understand and receive all the documentary evidence incl electronic docs.

This is 3rd incident of violence against women reported in #Pakistan over the last week that sparked social media outrage.

“I was already so sick of the news about recent incidents. We are so desensitised about aggressive men. And then my friend was murdered.” #JusticeForNoor
“There are fears that the accused will get bail and leave the country…If the accused ends up going scott-free, it will feel like all women in the country have died. It will really show the reality of our criminal justice system,” @nighatdad

Zahir Jaffar was in my class. He was disrespectful towards other students and teachers on more than one occasion.

My friend was bullied and harassed by him. So was i (unprovoked). Our mutual (male) friend kept him away from us before he was expelled from the institution.
I blocked out most of this since it was yeaaaars ago. Noor’s murder brought back everything and more. He hated women. He was condescending and rude to anyone he thought was lesser than him.

Everyone knew what he was like. Even his own fucking family and friends.
This happens when parents are rich assholes who don't take care of their kids. Who want to hide the fact that there is something wrong with their kid. The parents/family/society who see it as taboo to even discuss mental issues.
