1/n June 8, 1993: Rene Bousquet, who led the police during the Vichy regime and was responsible for the deportation of tens of thousands of Jews to German concentration camps during World War II, was assassinated in his Paris apartment ImageImage
2/n Bousquet's address in Paris was well known because demonstrators placed a plaque in front of his apartment building to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the killings at Vel d'Hiv, a stadium where 4,000 Jews were held before being deported on July 16th and 17th in 1942.
3/n They were among the nearly 13,000 Jews arrested by Paris police on those two days in the biggest single roundup carried out during the war. Nearly all were to die in German concentration camps.

America’s problem is not Ted Cruz advocating for a phony commission to negate the will of the American voters. It’s not the rot and corruption at the Supreme Court, as exemplified by Thomas & Gorsuch. It’s not even the insurrectionists in Congress or those representatives who …
sought pardons for the
crimes they committed on and around Jan. 6. It’s the chronic unwillingness of the executive branch to flex its co-equal-branch-of-government muscle to check and balance the judicial and legislative branches. As long as we remain Unchecked & Imbalanced,
crime and corruption in Congress and at the high court will flourish. Indeed, accountability for the crime and corruption in Congress and at the Supreme Court is the ONLY fix for what ails America. Because #JusticeMatters

I don't know about you, but I am ready for more indictments for the MF-er.
There are 4 separate criminal probes involving Trump:

- hush-money paid to Stormy Daniels
-DOJ probe into Trump's efforts to block Biden’s 2020 victory
- Georgia probe into Trump's efforts to block Biden’s victory
- purloined papers stored at Mar-a-Lago
It is absolutely essential that justice is served in all 4 cases so that we, the people, have renewed confidence in our system of justice. The other side revels in criminality-with-impunity as it causes the rest of us to become cynical & check out.

"Misogyny" is a trigger word for the far right-controlled Republican party. But the ideology is real, and it can lead to people getting killed.

Bryan Kohberger
George Huguely
Elliot Rodger
Andrew Tate
Donald T****

#RespectWomen is a public health and safety issue.
Evidently, my above use of the term misogyny has triggered a few of them.

They're trying to insinuate that Kohberger was a liberal which, even if true, would have nothing to do with the points made in my tweet. We already know several things about him, and his crimes...
Further, when writing the above list of 5 known and/or confirmed misogynists, some of whom have killed at least one woman, I considered a range of factors that put them on that list.

I want to encourage discussion about misogny and the targeting of women by violent offenders.

As we continue to wait for long-overdue justice to come for Trump, I’m reminded of a phrase I heard a lot when I was prosecuting murder cases in DC: “the streets know.” When we were investigating homicides proactively in the grand jury (meaning, no arrest had yet been made),
I would regularly meet with the victim’s family members to update them on the status of the investigation. Understandably, they often would ask me what’s taking so long - why has there been no no arrest/indictment. When I’d talk about the need for a thorough investigation to …
identify the killer, the family often would say, “but Mr. Kirschner, the streets know.” And they were right. The “streets” often know who the criminal is long before law enforcement knows. Of course, police & prosecutors need to build cases on admissible evidence as opposed to

"The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you get one more yard"

The Espionage Act investigation into the former traitor-in-chief brings worse news for him and co each day now.

We are having to WAIT for justice, and even for basic national security.

We? Yes we. I'm a New Zealander and like people in every other country outside the US, I can see that these crimes led to a clear (and possibly imminent) threat to national security everywhere.

No one knows how much damage has already been done. We may never know.
This discussion on the day's events is pretty informative and accessible:

Regarding the Supreme Court poised to overturn Roe v. Wade: we created this monster by abandoning the rule of law. We let McConnell violate the Constitution by refusing to have the Senate provide advice and consent, or scheduling a vote, on Merrick Garland’s nomination.
McConnell then crammed Amy Coney Barrett down America’s throat by violating his own BS rule rule (no SCOTUS confirmation in a president’s last year). We let Kavanaugh lie his way through his confirmation hearing, blatantly and transparently, and did nothing about it.
Plus the FBI buried 4500 citizen tips about Kavanaugh’s unsuitability to serve on the Supreme Court. We let Clarence Thomas violate bedrock ethical principles by abusing his position to protect his insurrectionist wife, without any repercussions. Lawlessness begets lawlessness.

@AmericanAir #neverflyAA #justiceForChawla #justiceMatters My father died due to gross negligence of American Airlines and we need answers. On December 17th, 2021, my parents were on an American Airlines direct flight (AA 293) from New Delhi to New York.
Five to six hours before landing at JFK, my father suffered a heart attack. He was a perfectly healthy individual with no history of heart problems, and was not on any medication.
Seeing that my father had all the classic signs of a massive heart attack (shoulder pain, profuse sweating and chest pain), she pleaded for help, and a volunteer passenger (a doctor) and a flight attendant administered first aid. Beyond that, nothing was done.

A mother just told me her son has been on remand – in prison – for almost a year after being supected of couriering an ounce of a class B drug.
The prosecution submitted a truly ludicrous valuation of this substance to the court – and they've provided no evidence to substantiate this price whatsoever, despite repeated requests from the defence.
Unsurprisingly, the defendant invested their time + money in commissioning an independent drug valuation expert. This specialist agreed that the valuation was astonishing, even saying he'd never seen anything so unbelievable with no supporting evidence.
