On the night of 24 April, 1971, the Pakistani army arrived in the sub-divisional town of Joypurhat in Bangladesh. On 26 April, the army, aided by collaborators, targeted the Hindu-dominated villages of Karai and Kadipur. They encircled the villages and took Hindu men captive. These men were then made to stand in a line and were brutally gunned down using light machine guns.
