Annie Sabu of Kinanur-Karinthalam panchayat tested positive for Covid on May 3. Health officials said her husband Sabu and daughter need not test but just be in quarantine.
On May 13, Sabu's conditions deteriorated but the Corona Help Desk refused to assign a 108 ambulance for him because he was not listed as a Covid patient. Neighbors and volunteers wore PPE kits and carried him in a sack to a pickup truck and took him to Nileshwar taluk hospital.
In the taluk hospital, Sabu's antigen test came negative. The hospital arranged an ambulance and sent him to the District Hospital in Kanhangad, where he died. He was 57. Waiting for RT-PCR results. @xpresskerala
