These conversations abled naming of diseases, etc. Unfortunately, many of those inventions/discoveries remained in silos, and massive global dissemination was impossible in real time. Moreover, tracking the origins and giving merits was difficult.

1/365 - Starting this thread with one of the first Motorcycles to be built in India. The @royalenfield #Bullet350. A Motorcycle which was initially built for the Indian Army but with time found patronage amongst varying genre of people achieving a cult status over the decades. ImageImageImageImage
2/365 - After selling imported Vespas for a while, Bajaj Auto started manufacturing the #Bajaj150 under license in 1959. This was one of the first Scooters in India and certainly changed the 2-Wheeler scene as it was initially available at a significant premium in the market. ImageImageImageImage
3/365 Automobile Products of India (API) was the 1st Scooter maker in India and manufactured the #Lambretta Li 150 Series 2 under license from Innocenti at Bombay in the 1960's. This scooter was very popular and made appearances in a few famous Bollywood movies too. #BikerLife ImageImageImageImage

1/24
Was wissen wir (Fakten)?

I understand completely the reasoning for wanting children to return to #schools, but I don’t understand what responsible government would risk this *at this moment in time* knowing (or not knowing the following: (please retweet)
1) More and more children are being diagnosed with a mysterious #Kawasaki syndrome like disease (PIMS-TS). And worryingly, some children, including in the U.K. have died from it. Thankfully, more and more research is being done now, but some of the early information is worrying:
The syndrome seems to appear around 4-6 weeks after the children were infected by #COVID19. As our peak was only around 4 weeks ago, it’s entirely possible that we’ll start seeing more cases. So far, there have been 100+ in France, 100+ in New York State, ~100 in the U.K...

A link between HAPE (High-Altitude Pulmonary Edema) and COVID-19 is Aldosterone. Glucocorticoids may help preserve endothelial cell membrane.

"The plasma aldosterone level rose continuously and on the last day of altitude was significantly elevated."

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6780338/
2/ "A possible explanation is that inhaled budesonide, as a glucocorticoid agent, preserved the integrity of pulmonary endothelial cell membrane.."

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
3/ Acclimatization at high altitude is dependent upon a response reducing Aldosterone.

"Indeed it is a relatively consistent finding that if this response does not occur and plasma aldosterone is elevated then this is associated with increased fluid retention and AMS."

Update 4/27 #SARSCoV2 (#COVID19): Reposting this chart from 4/18 when the U.S. began to depart from the optimistic scenario. That's when it became clear that we were jumping to a different trajectory. Updated chart next.

Here's the current "optimistic scenario" for the U.S.

Two adjustments define the new trajectory:

1) A longer glide path to zero growth, due to looser containment
2) A larger gap between reported and "shadow" cases due to limited testing capacity.

Japanese football club names, a thread.

So I noticed that some Japanese clubs have foreign words in their names. It made me delve deeper into the subject and the fact is that it is a profound tradition. In this thread I will explain how and why regarding several clubs.

Kashima Antlers,
English influences.

The word Antlers comes from the city name, Kashima, which actually means "deer island".

Urawa Red Diamonds.
English influences.

The Red Diamonds refers to the club's parent company Mitsubishi. The car manufacturer's logo consists of three red diamonds, and one of them remains within the current club crest.

#HAGIBIS #TYPHOON COMING TO #JAPAN

In #Tokyo's #Shibuya ward, you notice little of the threatening storm that is approaching

Until you want to get water or cash

None of the stores I visited had large water bottles (even though they bought extra stock), ATM's had people waiting
#HAGIBIS #TYPHOON COMING TO #JAPAN

Apparently there also many stores where far more than water has been sold out

#Tokyo and surrounding areas seem to be getting ready for something serious

#HAGIBIS #TYPHOON COMING TO #JAPAN
