Thread: Both staying home for months and the idea to #ReopenAmerica are not ideal situations. Both will have hardship, death and a myriad of other issues associated to it. If we close down for months: Depression, suicide, hunger, poverty, stroke & cardiovascular deaths will rise.
The last recession led to an estimated 10,000 more suicides and 15-20% increases in stroke & cardiovascular related deaths. A deep economic depression would have a big body count, as will reopening from COVID-19. That’s reality. So we must weigh which produces less devastation.
There’s no right or wrong answer, both are NOT ideal. Hindsight will be 20/20 for everyone who wants to criticize either direction. Everyone needs to be ready for the fact that both options have downsides. It’s a lose-lose but with strong leadership we will make it through this.
