Founders play an important - but finite - role in movements. We create a space to gather, but it’s the people who fill it who make the difference. And that’s the amazing @MomsDemand and @StudentsDemand volunteers and gun violence survivors I've worked with for so many years.
It was important to me to step back so that others can step forward. I’ve always said this is a marathon, not a sprint. But the reality is, it’s also a relay race. And the time has come for me to pass the baton to other leaders in our organization and movement.

Thanks to countless hours of organizing and educating by @MomsDemand volunteers, school districts across the US have sent secure storage info to millions of families. It's a huge step forward in the fight to keep kids safe from gun suicide, homicide and unintentional shootings.
As students returned to school, Texas @MomsDemand volunteers in McKinney successfully advocated to have our BeSMART guidance sent home in the district's latest newsletter.
At the Longmont City Council meeting where the extremist groups RMGO and Rally for our Rights have filled the room. They are currently loudly mocking the video feed from the discussion about gun ordinances going on in the pre-meeting discussion. @MomsDemand
Despite extremist rhetoric, we are not as divided as they would have us believe. Large majorities of Americans want gun safety laws. We are tired of living with a largely unregulated gun industry. It's killing us. #Enough
The mocking is quite something. In a country awash in guns, with a gun homicide rate 26x that of any peer nation, that people laugh about reasonable laws to regulate a largely unregulated industry is pretty depraved. They claim that guns everywhere is freedom. No. It's anarchy.

This week's weigh day "of record" will be Thursday, rather than Friday. It's not because I'm going to (carb) binge on Thanksgiving. I'm long past that habit now. Rather, I usually feast on Fridays. This week I'm shifting forward one day is all to align with family day of thanks.
(1/8) Sigh. All the in-fighting about $ spent & which orgs were effective & which weren’t. IT CLEARLY TOOK ALL OF US. We will learn in weeks ahead what moved the needle the most & where. But this isn’t a one-size-fits-all country & Democrats can’t be a one-size-fits-all party.
(2/8) In deep red southern states like mine, I’m inspired by the voter protection and grassroots mobilization efforts led by @staceyabrams. We need it desperately! Folks are curing ballots and fighting to count every vote here as I type.
(3/8) And in this deep red state, Democrats are in the superminority, & the largest party affiliation is independent. So we need organizations that reach crossover & fiercely independent voters. We can’t just excite Dems (there aren’t enough of them). We have to cast a wider net.

Relieved that our family all got negative tests back this morning, so it seems we just have some other sickness bug instead 🤢
Lots of thoughts on the testing process (which was very efficient overall/results within 24hrs). Will share when I’m feeling better
So some thoughts of getting a family tested for Covid now that I’m feeling a bit better. Overall really impressive that drive through testing system works. Where we live there were plenty of available slots, and staff at the testing site were reassuring and results were quick
As high rates of gun violence is discussed by Missouri’s Governor Parson, there is no mention of the fact that MO has some of the weakest gun laws in the nation. #moleg @MomsDemand
You cannot refuse to regulate firearms, even in the most minuscule ways, while complaining about increasing gun violence and loss of life.
As Parson calls a special session to address violent crime, I am hopeful that our lax gun laws will be addressed. Unfortunately the @MissouriGOP has refused to act without approval from the NRA.
Like many, many restaurants, “The Scullery” in Greenville, NC is closed. My younger cousin Matt and his wife Erin pour their hearts and lives into this place. Their food wins awards, they give back to their community, they employ 2-dozen people, and invite everyone... #thread
