Benue State people, the generation of cowards and burgers. Fulani terrorists chasing you and your children out of your homes and your children are helpless, all you do is to farm and eat.
Shame on all the men from Benue State. All the men from Benue are...
idiots, very BIG idiots. Benue men you are all idiots. All you know how to do is to make babies that you cannot protect. You bring innocent children to this world and expose them to danger. If you see any man from Benue state, give him a name like idiot. I am just so angry..
at any man from Benue State, look at their children! Conquered idiots. 😡 they can’t protect these innocent children. -SE

1/3 Younger age groups make up a larger % of recent #COVID19 cases in 🇨🇦. Younger age groups may be going out more, which ↑ likelihood of coming into contact with the virus. No-one is immune to serious illness & anyone can spread infection.
canada.ca/en/public-heal…
2/3 #PublicHealth measures have helped to drive national cases counts ↓ across all age groups, with the steepest declines observed among the oldest age groups at higher risk of severe outcomes. #ProtecttheVulnerable #KeepItUp!
3/3 A top priority for Canadians of all ages must be to keep #COVID19 away from older adults and other high-risk populations. We can’t prevent every death but WE MUST PREVENT EVERY DEATH WE CAN. #ProtecttheVulnerable

1/4 At present, #COVID19 transmission is continuing in outbreak settings & some communities, esp. in & around our most populous cities, Toronto & Montreal. Hotspots contribute to fluctuations in 🇨🇦 ’s nat’l effective reproduction rate (or Rt).
2/4 Rt estimates the # of new infections spread from a single case. Currently 🇨🇦’s Rt is hovering around 1 (cautiously good news), but this is not the same everywhere; in some areas Rt is well below 1, in others it is closer to 1 & fluctuating.
3/4 Until we can keep Rt consistently below 1, where each new case spreads to LESS THAN one other person for several weeks steady, #COVID19 will continue to smoulder. We need to #KeepItUp as #Publichealth stamp out with #TestandTrace

1/3 #COVID19 key concerns in 🇨🇦 : Today, in lieu of a daily in-person update to the media, I have issued a Saturday statement you can read in full here: canada.ca/en/public-heal…
2/3 We are now updating #COVID19 in 🇨🇦 numbers once a day, in the evening on canada.ca/en/public-heal…. As of last evening (end of day Friday, June 5), there are now 94,335 cases including 7,703 deaths & 52,568 or 56% recovered cases.
3/3 #KeepItUp #ShoutoutSaturday to keep #COVID19 ↓; Go OUT SMART & layer with #publichealth practices #PhysicalDistancing #CleanYourHands #CoughEtiquette + non-medical masks when you can keep a 2 metre distance from others, but #StayHomeIfSick!

1/6 Check out the June issue of the Canada Communicable Disease Report describing how PHAC’s epidemic modelling is used to inform decisions on #PublicHealth measures for control of #COVID19.
canada.ca/en/public-heal… Image
2/6 Modelled scenarios show the impact of different combinations of #publichealth measures like #PhysicalDistancing, detecting & isolating cases, and tracing & quarantine of contacts. #TestandTrace #COVID19
3/6⬆️ intensity of #publichealth measures work to keep #COVID19⬇️. As we lift broad population-based #PhysicalDistancing measures like work closures, we need to ⬆️intensity of other measures like #TestandTrace to maintain epidemic control.

1/7 While transmission data models don’t use case-based surveillance data to predict, they do use data on known epidemiological parameters that influence how #COVID19 spreads, e.g. average # of contacts, duration of infectiousness etc.,
2/7 Together with data on how #publichealth & intervention measures can impact spread. This way the model can show us how different options for intervention might change the epidemic trajectory. #COVID19
3/7 These models can predict numbers of cases but their strength is in guiding planning by illustrating which trajectory is best between e.g. an option A. “do nothing worst case scenario” vs. option “B” or “C” intervention scenarios. #COVID19 Image

1/6 Surveillance Data Models use actual data to plot how a disease behaves over a certain period of time, in a specific context & set of circumstances to PREDICT what could happen in the short term IF NO CHANGES in context/circumstances. #COVID19
2/6 These models can be inaccurate if the context & circumstances DO change over time. Every change in context & our actions (#PhysicalDistancing, new disease introduction or cluster, etc.) makes the real outcome diverge from the forecast. #COVID19
3/6 To correct for this, surveillance data models are limited to modest, short-term predictions (days) of the trajectory & are regularly updated & re-run as new case data come in, to account for changes & correct the predicted path. #COVID19

1/4 Get outside on SUNdays by going OUT SMART: keep UP with tried & true measures that we know can keep #COVID19 spread DOWN: #PhysicalDistancing #Handwashing #CleanYourHands #CoughEtiquette #StayHomeIfSick
2/4 BUT, going OUT SMART does NOT include going out when you are sick. If you are experiencing even mild symptoms of #COVID19 the RIGHT THING TO DO is #StayHomeIfSick & stay away from others to #StoptheSpread. #DoYourPart #ProtecttheVulnerable
3/4 In areas where #COVID19 activity may still be occurring, wearing a non-medical mask or face covering when you can’t keep a 2-metre physical distance can provide an additional layer of protection to help prevent spread. bit.ly/2XpkOoj

1/6 Go out smart by using core #publichealth practices to stay safe & #StopTheSpread by #PhysicalDistancing, avoiding common surfaces/objects, #CleanYourHands & extra layering with a mask where #COVID19 may still be active.
2/6 #PhysicalDistancing 2 metres from others keeps us far enough away to prevent coming into contact with potentially infectious droplets produced when people cough, sneeze, laugh, sing or speak, even if they don’t appear ill.
3/6 Avoiding touching common surfaces & objects reduces the likelihood of you contaminating your hands with #COVID19 infectious droplets. Avoiding touching your mouth, nose & eyes prevents you infecting yourself with the virus.

1/5 If we can all maintain core public health practices to the best of our ability, we’ll give ourselves the best chance of keeping #COVID19 activity down through the spring and summer. #PhysicalDistancing #WashYourHands #CoughEtiquette
2/5 This will give us the more lead time to work on a full range of #COVID19 preparedness activities in readiness for whatever may come this fall and winter. #KeepItUp #WeWillGetThroughThis #cavabienaller
3/5 As well, suppressing disease activity throughout the summer will continue to buy us more time for research and innovation on medical therapies and vaccine development. #COVID19 #Innovation #Science

1/4 #COVID19 key concerns in 🇨🇦: Daily case counts have been ↓ over the past couple weeks, with the number of cases reported last week 15% lower than the week prior. However, we still need to be cautious in our optimism!#PhysicalDistancing
2/4 Quebec & Ontario continue to report the bulk of new #COVID19 cases (~90%) and deaths (~95%) in Canada, but their daily case counts have also declined, by 6% and 10% respectively over the last week. #KeepItUp #TeamCanada
3/4 #COVID19 is a stealth virus that can spread before we know we have it – even as we get out more, we need to #StayApartTogether to keep ourselves, our families and all Canadians safe. #DoYourPart #ProtectTheVulnerable

1/8 #COVID19 key concerns in 🇨🇦: despite a jump ↑ in the daily case count, with Quebec reporting >1,300 back-dated cases, our current case doubling time is 20 days, slowed from 3-5 day doubling early on in the epidemic.
2/8 As we inch closer to social & economic reopening, many people are feeling a range of emotions from excited anticipation to nervous apprehension. Mixed feelings are understandable, given uncertainties that lay ahead. #COVIDCoping ca.portal.gs
3/8 Our collective efforts have slowed the growth of #COVID19 overall. In some places, the epidemic has been brought under good control & the time is right for a cautious reopening. #publichealth

1/8 This weekend I am reflecting on what 🇨🇦’s #COVID19 cases and deaths mean in human terms. There is so much behind these daily numbers, it is almost impossible to encapsulate in words.
2/8 Each one of the cases counted has been an illness, striking fear and concern in a person and their family, friends and community. Each death has been an incalculable tragedy – requiring goodbyes from a distance. #COVID19 bit.ly/3fm5AsD
3/8 It is in these unimaginable tragic situations, that we are most thankful for everyone on the frontlines of this crisis. Offering comforting words, human connection & healing touches. #COVID19

2/3 While I remain cautiously optimistic about the trajectory of #COVID19 in 🇨🇦, it is important that we all continue to be vigilant with our duty to protect one another, especially to #ProtecttheVulnerable, as we navigate the next few weeks. #StrongerTogether
3/3 During these difficult times, our Canadian spirit shines through. Let’s #KeepItUp to maintain the progress we’ve made and keep each other motivated. Canadians have shown, we’re #StrongerTogether, even when #TogetherApart. #WeWillGetThroughThis #cavabienaller

1/11 Yesterday I presented an update on the progress that Canadians have made to #FlattenTheCurve of #COVID19. We also looked at some of the short-term predictions from our real-data forecasting models. canada.ca/content/dam/ph…
2/11 The #COVID19 forecast for 🇨🇦 is looking better, though we are not entirely out of the woods yet. We must remain mindful that our projections are only as reliable as our actions. #PlankTheCurve #PhysicalDistancing #WashYourHands
3/11 If we maintain measures that keep the #COVID19 growth rate down and prevent outbreaks and potential rebound of spread, we stand the best chance of remaining on this favourable trajectory. #KeepItUp #PlankTheCurve

1/10 Today I presented an update on #GOC modelling that includes two types of approaches: 1. forecasting for short-term predictions & 2. dynamic modelling for hypothetical “if, then” planning scenarios. #COVID19
2/10 In forecasting models, #GOC uses real data from #COVID19 cases in 🇨🇦 to make short-term predictions of the number of cases & deaths we might expect if #epidemiology drivers & #publichealth measures stay relatively stable.
3/10 Today’s #GOC forecast model gives a short-term prediction out to May 5th of between 53,000-67,000 #COVID19 cases & 3,300-3,900 deaths, but ↑ cases in high-risk individuals can ↑ case fatality rate, leading to underprediction.

2/8 Warmer weather & longer days can make us feel a bit antsy, as we sympathise with the kids in the back seat who wearily ask – Are we there yet? Though we’re not quite, we are on the right track & getting closer all the time. #COVID19 #KeepItUp
3/8 #COVID19 has exposed the fragility of circumstances for some populations – especially those living in long-term care homes or group housing + those experiencing homelessness or vulnerable indigenous communities. #ProtecttheVulnerable
