A bold statement from Britain's Ministry of Defence in the daily update.

The UK has seldom made such outright predictions. Also worth adding #Russia has claimed total control of Pavlivka four times I think.

This morning a big attack by #Russia on the city of #KrivyiRih.

#Ukraine's officials are not saying much, but we do know there were two explosions at, or near, the railway station in the city in #Dnipropetrovsk region.

No photos yet.

So. Another long story about our yesterday trip to #Mykolaiv and #Kherson. Danger: 🧵
We arrived in Mykolaiv early morning. Such a great feeling to bring the train back to town first time since the beginning of the war.
My brother @chefjoseandres was already waiting for us at the station. He made a long way from US to Mykolaiv only because he promised to be here once #Kherson is free. He brought his @WCKitchen team and few trucks of food with him. And few cigars. He’s got a style.

Who stole the raccoon? Small THREAD about the video and the person who takes the animal.
In the video, you can see Oleg Zubkov. He is a director of the Yalta Zoo and the Taigan Lion Park founder. Zubkov was a deputy in the Crimean Autonomous Republic in the 2000s. /1
The original video was posted on Zubkov's Youtube channel with the name "We are in Kherson! Catch 7 raccoons in 7 minutes". There are also plenty of other videos with different animals being taken from Kherson.

It's Day 263 of this war.
In 8 days it's the anniversary of the start of #Euromaidan protests in #Ukraine and subsequent Revolution of Dignity when the corrupt pro-#Russia president fled.

It's also 18 years since Moscow poisoned pro-West future President Viktor #Yushchenko.
The UK daily update focuses on the news about kids getting military training in #Russia's schools.

Will it increase patriotism?

It's been a long day. We finally reached #Kherson and start arranging our return with a regular train there. But that's a long story. Take a sit. 🧵
Once our army fought #russians out of #Kherson, I knew I have to go there and arrange our service ASAP. Boots on the ground is our way.
Days like this one start very early. And today we had a magic morning. Image

So how many Russian troops got out of Kherson? We probably won't know the truth for a long time if ever. What we do know is that not every Russian sent to that side of the River made it out. Its more likely than not that the Russian's lost thousands of men in the battle for the
Kherson Pocket... and it was a pocket battle. Bridgeheads that don't expand often end up dying. Sometimes defenders with logistics lines dominated by enemy artillery find a way to win. Look at the French with the Sacred Road at Verdun. But usually, interdicted supply lines mean
the defender is going to lose. We will have an idea of just how good or bad the retreat was based on the amount of captured equipment if such is revealed. If far easier to get a man across a river than a truck let alone a tank or SPG. Now just because we don't know, does not

Everything is centred on #Kherson with many seemingly fanciful rumours now looking likely to be really as bad for #Russia as suggested.

We know there were big missile attacks on retreating Russians trying to cross the river. Seven different sites were hit by rockets.

We reach Day 260 of #Russia's war on #Ukraine. They continue to go backwards after Wednesday's announcement that Putin's troops are evacuating #Kherson region west of the river.

This is the daily thread for Thursday. Catch up on the previous 24 hrs here:

So, #Russia confirmed it is leaving #Kherson city and the rest of the right bank in the region.

But #Ukraine rightly urges caution.

Not all invaders have left yet; fighting continues.

Even after all Russians leave, it will take time and manpower to de-mine and make it safe
2/2

#Russia has saved a lot of its troops and can move some to the #Donbas to strengthen attacks there

#Kherson will likely be heavily shelled from across the river

It will be great to liberate the only regional capital occupied since February, but it gets tougher now.

Some dramatic news yesterday - if you missed it, click the link and scroll.

#StopRussia

The news agenda is still dominated by one event in #Russia, where the first serious questions are being asked by "regular" (non liberal) families over military disasters.

It follows this wipeout of a new battalion of mobilised troops by #Ukraine's forces

#Russia's daily losses, published by #Ukraine each day, shows fewer troops and equipment destroyed yesterday than in recent days.

The wipeout of the Voronezh battalion happened previously and likely included in previous days' figures.

I'll start with a couple of curious updates from stories which broke yesterday...

First the case of one of #Russia's richest men who gave up his citizenship saying he couldn't be a part of a fascist country.

But Oleg Tinkov, who now lives in London, has since deleted this post
Next I am concerned about what's happening to the ships which left #Ukraine's ports yesterday despite #Russia suspending its agreement in grain export.

A flotilla of grain-laden vessels seem to have all turned off transponders, either continuing incognito or anchored off 🇺🇦coast

And the only reason they paused drafting is because of lack of transport!

A leap in some categories in #Russia's losses today. 3 x Ka-52 attack helicopters in a day, which UK Intel notes in the next tweet.

Tanks destroyed also well above the mean again, possibly due to #Ukraine's partial counter in #Bakhmut and fierce RU resistance in #Beryslav

In #Kherson, people refuse to accept rubles en masse and demand hryvnias.
Residents and shops refuse to accept Russian rubles and ask to pay only in hryvnias. Even gas stations ask for hryvnias. #KhersonIsUkraine 1/2
In exchange offices for 150 hryvnias they ask for 1000 rubles, which is 3 times more than official exchange rate. 😄 russian occupiers already feel the Ukrainian Armes Forces approaching. People are waiting impatiently. 💛💙 The movement “Yellow ribbon” in #Kherson 👇🏼 #Ukraine
More info on gas stations in #Kherson. Now occupiers are complaining that gas stations are not working 😅 “third station that we visited and they don’t work, one says they lost an important chip, but have gas, another one is just closed” No gas for invaders, that’s right! 💛💙
