MAYOR'S RESPONSE: @MayorofSeattle heard parents. But did not directly respond to pleas to take control from @WSDOT and @KC_RHA. Exact reason remains unclear. But city already funded KCRHA with millions of dollars to handle outreach. How long this continues remains to be seen.

A special poem for Seattle ::

Twas the night before vax pass
Would come to an end
Not a leader was sorry
None tried to amend

Four months of shame
Of senseless exclusion
In a fruitless attempt
A complete disillusion

To pretend to control
Such a tiny speck
What were you thinking?
Come on, what the heck?

Most chose to vax
Over eighty percent
So why keep insisting
That the unvax repent?

2>>
It didn’t make sense
And it can’t block transmission
It just ended up
Fueling pointless division

People have tools
To stay safe, they are able
To *choose* if they want
And mask up door to table

(1/3) What we today consider King County is the ancestral homeland of the Coast Salish peoples.

🌊 Coast Salish-speaking peoples have lived along the Salish Sea—Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, Gulf Islands, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Strait of Georgia—for 10,000+ years. Image
(2/3) 🗣️ The term “Coast Salish” refers to a language family of 2 dozen languages & dialects & is used to indicate the cultural group of indigenous peoples who speak/spoke these. Each tribal group has its own name for themselves, as you can see from the map below.
(3/3) #KingCounty Parks acknowledges that we are on the ancestral lands of the Coast Salish peoples, who have resided here since time immemorial. We honor the Coast Salish peoples, past & present, & honor with gratitude the land itself.

Today, I’m traveling back to #WashingtonState w/the state's congressional delegation. We'll be visiting the #WA Emergency Operations Center & meet with the @GovInslee, the Vice President & the outstanding team working overtime to detect, prevent & respond to #coronavirus in #WA.
Yesterday, I voted for – & the House passed – an $8.3 billion funding package to support federal & local public health response efforts to #coronavirus.

This significant package will help save lives in #WashingtonState & around the nation. seattletimes.com/nation-world/c…
Our community & state have been at the epicenter of #coronavirus in the United States. Our outstanding public health infrastructure & frontline health care workers have taken on a significant burden – including $200,000 in unexpected weekly costs just in #KingCounty.
