What does playing James Bond, one of the most iconic characters in movie history, mean to Daniel Craig?

“I’d love to give you a very succinct and proper answer to that, but I don’t think I have one,” he says while discussing his move from Bond to Blanc. latimes.com/entertainment-…
“It’s been a large part of my life and has taken up most of my working life for the past 17, 18 years now,” he says of #JamesBond. “To really put that into some sort of perspective, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do it. Really.” latimes.com/entertainment-… Image
“It’s just too big of a thing to really get into a pithy comment,” he tells Mark Olsen (@IndieFocus).

“It’s not that I’ll not want to, but to sort of sum it up, how does one sum that up?” latimes.com/entertainment-… Image

“I don’t think I remember the first time I saw her,” Ana de Armas says of Marilyn Monroe.

But she believes she truly engaged with the Hollywood icon’s indelible image only after leaving home at 18, when her world opened up to films previously inaccessible lat.ms/3Q8B7Py
Now, De Armas adds to the Monroe canon as a fictionalized version of the “Some Like It Hot” star — and, more importantly, of the woman born Norma Jeane Mortenson — in director Andrew Dominik’s #Blonde. lat.ms/3Q8B7Py
For De Armas, earning the role of an American icon seemed nearly unfathomable: “On paper I was not supposed to be playing Marilyn Monroe. I’m a Cuban actress. In what world could I have imagined that this was going to happen? Never.” lat.ms/3Q8B7Py

#SpiderMan director Jon Watts is hyperspace jumping from the MCU to the galaxy far, far away, helming a new #StarWars series on Disney+ set to resemble coming-of-age movies from the 1980s. latimes.com/entertainment-… Image
Hot off the resounding success of Tom Holland’s Spidey trilogy, Watts is co-creating and executive producing the project with screenwriter Chris Ford, who previously collaborated with the filmmaker on 2017’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” latimes.com/entertainment-…
Billed as a galactic throwback to classic Amblin films, the series is looking to cast four kids around ages 11 and 12.

That’s pretty young for a live-action Star Wars project — even if you count Baby Yoda, who is technically much older than he looks. latimes.com/entertainment-… Image

Alexandre Desplat, the Oscar-winning composer who was set to provide the music for Guillermo del Toro’s #NightmareAlley, has backed out of the noir thriller because of scheduling. bit.ly/3uPBDcv ImageImage
Desplat is a favorite to pick up a nomination at the #Oscars for his work on Wes Anderson’s #TheFrenchDispatch. Now, he won’t have to worry about competing against himself in this year’s original score category. bit.ly/3uPBDcv ImageImage
#KnivesOut composer Nathan Johnson has been brought in to compose music for #NightmareAlley, but all is well between del Toro and Desplat. They’re still set to reunite for the director’s #Pinocchio. bit.ly/3uPBDcv ImageImage

In January of 2020, Rian Johnson talked about what he’d like to explore in a possible #KnivesOut sequel: “I’m always kind of saying, ‘If this movie does all right, I would be thrilled to do another one.’ But a lot has to happen. I have to write a script.” bit.ly/3jjGmiQ Image

Sure, "polls aren't votes", but 15 pts down means Trump's (ym"sh) vulnerable, dries up fundraising, allows GOP electeds to contradict him publicly, allows reporters to treat him normally & not as the magician of 2016 who commands a cult of violent kooks.
To combat the complacency that the polling imbalance could bring, I suggest telling fellow anti-Trumpites that no matter how much DJT is down in November, when you vote, it will feel as good as punching him in the face with all of your strength

Image

#NerdyFilmTechStuff thread:

I made a graphic about the color rendering in #KnivesOut, to show how pure photometric data from the camera can be translated for display with more complexity and nuance than is often used with generic methods.

The graphic compares:
1. Uninterpreted scene data from the camera, not prepped for display.

2. Off-the-shelf (manufacturer bundled) transformation to prepare data to be viewed.

3. #KnivesOut color rendering. (Not a shot-specific color “correction” but the core transformation for the whole project.).
Note in the 3D graphs that the off-the-shelf method is more blunt/simple in how it differs from the source data: largely just a uniform rectilinear expansion. Whereas the #KnivesOut method differs from both in more unintuitive, idiosyncratic, nuanced ways:
