The lawyer, Bert Deixler, said Captain Angela Walton knew it was an #LASD car because she once worked undercover for the department.

Deixler also said a sergeant who had planned to testify anonymously about deputy gangs today backed for fear he would somehow be identified and not get a promotion.

What's really interesting is that the sheriff had asked Bonta to investigate Inspector Max Huntsman and County Counsel for allegedly obstructing justice when they tipped off Kuehl that #LASD was going to serve a search warrant on her home last week.

Chief investigator for COC Bert Deixler says a "critical witness" who was going to testify today...dropped out Saturday...out of "fear of retribution"...says investigators have found "palpable fear" inside the #LASD over deputy gangs.
Deixler says county attorneys told him to keep secret information in depositions in civil lawsuits related to deputy gangs.

The man tased in this video was found shot to death in #LongBeach. Larry Jefferson was suing Sheriff Villanueva and the #LASD. Although he was found by the Long Beach Police Dept on 3/29 they didnât notify his family until 4/5. The fam want the AG or DOJ to investigate.
The fam also says after Jefferson was murdered and before they were notified sheriffâs deputies were just sitting in front of their home. They took pictures.
Jeffersonâs attorney echoes the family's sentiments.

Commissioner Ocen opposes a proposal to expand funding to LASD for mental health teams. She believes the money should be diverted to the Department of Public Health.
1/3 #LASD Special Victims Bureau investigated a male for possession of child pornography with a previous sex crime conviction. Yesterday, the defendant pled âno contestâ to the charges.
2/3 Pursuant to the DAâs new directives, both of the defendantâs previous strike convictions for sex crimes with a child were stricken resulting in a low term 2 years in state prison sentence.
3/3 The defendant who has been in custody since his arrest in October 2020, has earned approximately 253 days credit towards his required half time to be served and will likely be released from custody in about 112 days.

Moments ago, 2 of our Sheriff Deputies were shot in Compton and were transported to a local hospital. They are both still fighting for their lives, so please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. We will update this thread with information as it becomes available.
Update: One male deputy and one female deputy were ambushed as they sat in their patrol vehicle. Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds and are in critical condition. They are both currently undergoing surgery. The suspect is still at large.
Update: The gunman walked up on the deputies and opened fire without warning or provocation.

Captain Williams is a graduate of Academy class 257 and began his career with #LASD in 1989. He has worked at Carson, Century, Compton, Industry Stations & Ofc of the Sheriff. He also worked Operations Safe Streets Bureau & 9 years as a canine handler at SEB.

It was an honor to spend this afternoon with Mr. James âBuddyâ Fowler. He began his career with #LASD in 1973 as a photographer. Buddy was assigned to Scientific Services Bureau, where he photographed Department events, personnel and major incidents.
During his career Buddy also processed photos from crime scenes and made photo exhibits for court cases. He was Sheriff Peter J. Pitches photographer and served our country in the Air Force. I was humbled to share our service time stories.
Buddy Fowler retired from LASD in 2006, serving longer than any other Sheriffâs Photographer and taking over 250,000 photos throughout his career. Thank you for your devoted time at our Department and thank you for capturing a photograph with me today! #blackhistorymonth

This morningâs media open house highlighted the strides we have made as a department and the obstacles we have overcome. To recap, Iâd like to point out the #LASDâS achievements this year. 1st, violent crimes across @CountyofLA are down 15.15%. #SheriffV
2nd ICE transfers are down 53%, keeping true to my campaign promise that I would remove the ICE agents from our facilities. Jail violence has also decreased, despite the rise in in our inmate population.
3rd recruitment is up, a total 65% increase over the previous 4 year average. As Captain McBride stated, we achieved this by changing our culture. We seek qualified candidates but no longer treat them like criminals; a practice which previously dissuaded most from applying.
At the 33rd Annual 999 for Kids, LASD Special Victims Bureau, @FIDM and @lacountydcfs came together with volunteers from within and outside of the department to deliver extra support & cheer to kids from our communities.

After lunch, provided by @McDonalds , the kids and their families had a chance to play in our snow area, munched on popcorn served by our LASD Grizzlies, visited our petting zoo and participated in many activities.
Kids are the real super heroes in disguise, and my hope is that they remember they will always have our support!
