Evening all. @NorthamptonBC planning committee is meeting at The Guildhall this evening. Thread of decisions being made here. #LDReporter
@NorthamptonBC A lot of apologies tonight from elected members. Just seven of the 13 councillors are here.
@NorthamptonBC First application up is the move of NN Contemporary Art (@NNPress) across the road from 9 Guildhall Road to 24 Guildhall Road at County Hall.

Would effectively see a change of use from offices at County Hall into an art studio for the organisation.

This is the second time the petition has come to the council. Protesters want ‘free speech caveats’ added to the definition

Evening all. I'm at Duston Community Centre where a general election hustings is being held for Northampton South parliamentary candidates. #LDReporter
Appearing before voters tonight, in order of how they appear on the ballot paper:

Gareth Eales (Labour) - @CllrGarethEales
Jill Hope (Lib Dems) - @JillHopeLibDem
Scott Mabbutt (Green Party) - @GreenDocScott1

Conservative candidate @ALewerMBE is not attending.
@CllrGarethEales @JillHopeLibDem @GreenDocScott1 @ALewerMBE Organiser of the hustings, David Huffadine-Smith, says he invited Mr Lewer but that he had not extended the offer of an alternative Conservative speaker as it would be 'unfair' to the other candidates.

Evening all. I'm at @NorthamptonBC this evening, where members of the public have packed out the gallery for the latest planning committee. Thread of decisions here. #LDReporter
@NorthamptonBC As of 12 minutes ago, the deadline for appeals against the adoption of NBC's new HMO supplementary planning document had passed.

It now means the planning committee can consider dismissing HMOs if 10% of properties within a 50 metre radius are also HMOs. Had previously been 15%.
@NorthamptonBC As a result, two applications for HMOs have been deferred as the new restrictions now apply.

They were in The Crescent (Parklands ward) and Burns Road (Castle ward).

Remaining HMO applications are either amendments to already approved schemes or the threshold doesn't apply.

I’m at a warm Oldham full council where I’ll be bringing you live updates throughout the evening #LDReporter
The Oldham youth council are here to present their motion on knife crime. They say it is not a London based problem. More than 2,000 young people voted in a survey to make it the priority in Oldham, over homelessness
From surveys done by youth councillors, 14% did admit to having carried a knife. Half of these suggested they carried a knife for legitimate reasons, such as for Duke of Edinburgh Award or for eating their lunches, but the other half felt they needed it for protection.
