As a former Legal Director @EHRC I have thoughts.. 1/
The proposed change in the law is nonsense on stilts. The suggestion is legally illiterate, unworkable and is just another way of using trans people’s actual lives as a pawn in the culture wars 2/
It would overturn some of the purposes of the Gender Recognition Act and make it possible to discriminate against trans people in a whole range of circumstances where it is currently outlawed 3/

There is no #LGBWithTheT where the heterosexual majority will respect lesbians and gay men having boundaries. Trans-identified heterosexual people’s use of “same-gender attraction” redefines us against our will. #LGBWithoutTheT presents resistance to occupation and colonization.
Lesbians and gay men who transition do exist. But they are the minority. Their existence does not justify forced teaming us with heterosexual people. Trans-identified homosexual people have been included, by default. Many have desired otherwise in wishing for the straight world.
Increasingly, many have come to see that most trans-identified people are heterosexual, not homosexual. This fact has been neglected due to “same-gender attraction” masking opposite-sex attraction. Lesbians and gay men need separation from heterosexual people redefining us.

GC/TERF stuff is once again trending on my feed, and for some reason it put into my mind a particular experience I had to deal with in my past that particularly highlights, at least for me, why places to be authentic are so important. A 🧵:
1/21 I'm 41. So a bit of an old soul at this point. Had first struggles with gender concerns at around 12-13. Didn't recognize due to upbringing. Didn't finally learn the science until I was about 21. That's a different story though.
2/21 Started attempting to transition full time at 24, couldn't until about 28. From 21 to 28 are a different set of stories, maybe another time if people are interested.

So @The_TUC wants charitable status of @ALLIANCELGB removed by @ChtyCommission because the 'LGBT+ community' must speak with only one voice, and must never be 'divided.' So LGBT+ is fine, T alone is fine, but never LGB. Focus on sexuality w/out gender identity is not allowed 1/ Image
But the belief that everyone has a "gender identity" which is more important than their sex is just that - a belief. Why does @The_TUC insist we all live by this particular belief system? 2/
The most racism I've experienced recently has been from trans activists insisting that male-born people with particular gender identities are women 'just like black women are.' 3/

We need to talk about #gender.
So, there is a lot of stuff going around right now about identity, gender, presentation, sex and what it all means. Being unemployed and passionate about this topic, I have made a thread to explain. Having access to photoshop means pictures.
Many people have done this before me, but I feel like this will be the simplest way of explaining things.
Imagine a world where beings appear to be red or yellow. A variety of shades of this (magenta, scarlet, lemon, daffodil), but they are roughly able to be grouped.
About 1 in every 100 are orange, or amber or blood orange. These are told 'well you are red or yellow', and get pushed into one side or the other. It's a spectrum, but the world sees it as a binary.
This is how sex works.

0) I have a bit of time this evening, so here is how the HPG axis works. There are a lot of acronyms, so I’m dropping an image of the HPG axis here, but it basically makes a loop of H to P to G and back to H, keeping everything in balance. If you are here to attack trans people, you can set that aside and read, choose kindness, or move along.
