The police in Slovenia used water cannons to break up a demonstration against the corona restrictions decided by the government.
Previously, protesters led by left groups had thrown paving stones and flares at police officers in front of the parliament building in Ljubljana and shot them, the STA news agency reported. At least three people, including a police officer, were injured.
Several hundred people demonstrated. For the first time since riots triggered by corruption allegations in 2012, water cannons were used again in Slovenia, according to the report.

In the last 24 hours 1,499 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Slovenia and five persons have died as a result of COVID-19, the government said on Tuesday, adding that the number of daily new infections had doubled over the past week.
1,113 new cases were confirmed yesterday, but the percentage of infections in the population tested has fallen from over 30 percent to 26 percent. The number of cases has reached 25,579 since the start of the outbreak and the death toll is 256.
The incidence of 14 days is 780 per 100,000 inhabitants. 560 COVID patients are currently hospitalized, including 86 in intensive care, the Ministry of Health said.

Due to the sharp rise in the number of new infections with the coronavirus, Slovenia is further restricting the freedom of movement of its citizens. From Tuesday,
citizens will no longer be allowed to leave their own community without a valid reason, as Prime Minister Janez Jansa announced on Sunday evening on Twitter. The regulation initially applies for seven days.
From then on, it could be withdrawn in those regions where the number of infections is falling, Jansa added. Movements between the twelve regions of the country have not been allowed for a week. There has also been a night curfew from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for a week.

Slovenia is giving up corona contact tracking due to overload. The country's health authorities are no longer able to follow up on all contacts with those infected, the Institute for Public Health announced on Saturday.
In a declaration the citizens concerned were asked to inform their contacts themselves. The country of two million people counted 900 new cases of infection in the past 24 hours. This corresponds to a doubling within a week.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 180 people in Slovenia have died after a coronavirus infection and around 12,000 cases of infection have been registered.
