46.01/ Week Forty-six, May 29-June 4 2021, begins here.

Week 45 below:
46.02/ Attempting the "Not starting every email/tweet with the word 'so' challenge." This is comes after "Not starting every etc with 'well'"

I understand this is common for academics. In my observation: "well" is to state your hypothesis, "so" the next step in analysis.
46.03/ I just spent hours writing a thread and for some reason the screen skipped and I lost everything. It's hard to explain how destructive this is. First time it's happened and now I will know to continuously back up writing in a side document. But I'm mildly perturbed.

Meanwhile, the top National Guard officer on scene at #LafayetteSquare will tell Congress tomorrow that the administration is lying about not using tear gas and will say he saw federal agents use "excessive force" against "peaceful" "fellow Americans." Image

On June 1, U.S. Park Police and other agents attacked peaceful protesters in front of the @WhiteHouse at #LafayetteSquare in Washington, D.C.

At our June 29 hearing, some Republican members dismissed how the agents used tear gas & beat unarmed civilians as no big deal.
We’re holding a July 28 follow-up hearing to get to the bottom of who ordered that attack and why.

Acting U.S. Park Police Chief Gregory Monahan will testify.

Then we’ll hear from Adam DeMarco, a former Army officer & major in the DC National Guard. bit.ly/2OQBAZG
Maj. DeMarco is appearing before the Committee to offer testimony under the Military Whistleblower Protection Act.

He coordinated military & law enforcement agents on June 1 & directly witnessed how the crackdown was carried out.

We look forward to his testimony.

US Park Police says approximately 300 protestors took sections of the temporary chain-link fence surrounding the Andrew Jackson statue Monday. They "attacked" it with "hammers, chisels, and muriatic acid while putting chains and ropes around it." @WTOP @usparkpolicepio 1/3
.@DCPoliceDept Chief tells me USPP requested aid at #LafayetteSquare & they stopped the destruction. As for Albert Pike statue Sunday pm: "A tactical decision was made the crowd had become so aggressive that it would have been dangerous to send police officers in." 2/2
wtop.com/dc/2020/06/why… Worth noting - four DC Police officers hurt, 2 USPP officers hurt, 2 protestors arrested in connection with the Jackson statue response.

One week ago MPD lured, trapped, roughed up and arrested 194 nonviolent protesters on #SwannStreet – while pepper-spraying and besieging protesters who were given shelter in a private home.

This is a thread with details and new footage of what went down to hold MPD accountable. Image
Two things to keep in mind:

1️⃣ The only thing the protesters are accused of is violating the Mayor's curfew – a curfew MPD didn't enforce for others, even those across the street that same night!

The curfew was used to crack down on a First Amendment #BlackLivesMatter assembly.
2️⃣ By all witness accounts, the #SwannStreet protesters were nonviolent. They constantly deescalated, stayed calm while being kettled for hours, and pulled back anyone who acted up. And this despite many being assaulted hours earlier at #LafayetteSquare.
