From Uber Technologies' Q3 filing last night, it appears HMRC has abandoned its contention Uber is liable to pay employee National Insurance Contributions (compare Q2 with Q3).

We are in Court at 10.30 am this morning trying to force HMRC to collect over a billion in dodged VAT.
In the UK, HMRC will say in court that they can tell me Uber's VAT position but I can't tell you. And in the UK Uber will add, if I tell you I should go to prison. Yet in the US Uber is telling the whole world because it is scared of US lawyers and US regulators.
But this is completely fine, right? A fearful and gutless tax authority. And a tax dodging US tech behemoth running rings round it and asking the court to silence or imprison those trying to put this stuff in the public domain.

Yep, all is healthy here. We have so much control.
