I'll be tweeting highlights from this #HCSummit22 session: Executive Led Transformation Toward ZERO Harm. 🧵
"How do we define the role of the executive in culture transformation toward zero harm?"
"How do we increase team engagement in safety during a time of high stress and burnout?"

Starting a human or machine-based process late and finishing it quickly is also a sign of labour or robotic #efficiency, which is not taken into account by organizational #productivity specialists.
Doing things correctly matters without wasting time

Arriving at 9 in the morning at the office and staying late beyond designated working hours is the worst kind of employee #attitude, which should be rebuked by the #HR Dept.
Why do some people stay late at work, anyway?
Spying? or other motives?
Surprisingly, I have come across some night shift workers who do fewer hours and are at times far better at producing results compared to daylight sleepy heads.
More organizational studies are required to check employee motivation, productivity and time-task assignment management

"Oh, but if people are not always 100% busy we are not being efficient and they will be lazing around when not doing 'their work'". 😱
About the HUGE importance of the slack time, from the book "Value Stream Mapping" #Lean #ValueStreamMapping 👇
"Freeing capacity is a vital way for labor intensive organizations to increase the proportion of revenue to labor. The effort, though, should not result in layoffs. Rather, freeing capacity enables an organization to accomplish one or more of the following outcomes:" 👇
- Absorb additional work without increasing staff
- Reduce paid overtime
- Reduce temporary or contract staffing
- In-source work that's currently outsourced
- Create **better work/life balance** by reducing hours worked
- **Slow down and think**

About a month back, I completed an online course called Building a Second Brain by Tiago Forte (@fortelabs).

Going through the course and reflecting on its implications, I realised something.

As a student in #BASB12, I was getting a ringside view to something remarkable.
Something that folks a few decades from now will herald as a breakthrough in personal knowledge management and productivity.

Something that is essentially a revolutionary new software OS for the Knowledge Era.

Here’s why.
A revolution requires the right hardware and software

In the early 1700s, many folks in Britain were grappling with a peculiar problem. How to get water out of coal mines. Since the coal mines were underground, they tended to get frequently flooded.

A question I hear a lot from engineering manager is, "How should I measure my software teams?" My initial answer, "I think you're asking the wrong question." Why? 👇
Many engineering leaders feel they should be measuring *something*, but it doesn't make sense to measure *anything* unless you know *why* you are measuring. This is the question to start with, "What do you care most about?"
Unfortunately, the answer to this is not easily distilled into a single number (or at least not that I've found). It's a subjective, biased and context-based answer which requires judgement

So many of these people took A Deal that was given by God. The deal was to be used as A Puppet to help expose all the ones who needed to be exposed. They would then be arrested for Crimes having to do with Government and not their crimes done upon children. Once everything
Calms Down( A Month or two Down the road), The truth will be told to the People of who did what to children. WE all will already be starting the healing process,This way will Make this process so much easier. EVERYTHING is known, Down to the smallest of detail. I made A promise
that the ones within these families Who have committed crimes upon children, The ones who have not committed crimes upon children/Humanity would be protected from any backlash. It is important for EVERYONE to keep having faith in Humanity. It's important to be A ROCK.

In 5 tweets, The gist of Right to Left: The digital leader’s guide to Lean and Agile
agendashift.com/right-to-left
@Right2LeftGuide #agendashift #lean #agile #digital #leadership
@Right2LeftGuide 1/5. Success in digital means integrating delivery, development, and strategy – continuously identifying and addressing impediments to flow, alignment, and anticipation. This is clearly a learning process; a successful digital organisation is a learning organisation
@Right2LeftGuide 2/5. In Lean-Agile we celebrate #Lean & #Agile both separately and together. To Lean's "strategic pursuit of flow" (after Modig & Åhlström), we bring from Agile a safe default assumption, that in knowledge work, most failures of flow are rooted in failures of collaboration

One Day Design Sprint. Morning 8 am Start. Just one USP User Flow. Virtual Projection everything on Apple Watch size screen. Limited Space, limited IA, limited ID & linear task flow. 2 PM Usability Testing. 4 PM improvisation on data collected. 6 PM wrapup. @AJSmartDesign
I was following Design Sprint of @AJSmartDesign that is 4 days long. Then it strike me that does Screen Size (apple watch, phone, tablet, Desktop, TV, Projector) proportional to the Design Sprint's duration (week)?
A 4 day sprint will have multiple objective. A 1 day sprint will have USP objective cutting out all the noise. A 1 day sprint means failing at the end of the day if the USP can't be discovered or usability testing don't get the expected output. Much better than failing on the

1. I’m so grateful to @tristanharris @aza being vulnerable enough to suggest a new field to study human + tech. It just goes to show there’s tons of confusion around the role of research & insights in industry - which is the topic of my upcoming talk at @MindtheProduct.
2. @zeynep is right about the willful blindness of industry tech & @BostonJoan have pointed to entire field of STS - BUT i have sympathy for @tristanharris @aza cuz i see tons of confusion on several fronts between industry & academia that can possibly make even well meaning...
3. ... tech folks feel like a new area of study is needed. One of the big problems is how research is manifested in industry under confusing fields of UX, CX, design research -as @lifewinning noted there is def a trend with throwing an X in industry to make a field sound TOUGH

Lean Usability Testing Hiring. Usability Testing Landscape is growing with newer and sophisticated tests included over time. One Specialist may not be equipped with the knowledge of all the types of Usability Tests. So Job Portals need to device a way
to separate Specialist by their vocational expertise. This approach will directly impact the relationship between Client and Service provider. It will streamline Investment and make the UX process Lean.

"(0/8) Q: "My team needs help. Where do we start?"

Make sure you are doing regular retrospectives, and make sure you are committing to run a limited number of time-bound experiments to make things better. Reflect. Strengthen that muscle. #lean #proddev"
(1/8) Realize you may have blindspots. So occasionally invite outsiders (from inside and outside the org) to your retros and invite them to pattern match with you. Invite them to offer potential experiments. #lean #proddev
(2/8) Related...start a learning-focused series of book clubs, outside speakers, paper clubs, and company visits. Basically...stay as exposed as possible to outside ideas. #lean #proddev

here's a little thread on roadmaps and roadmapping

1/8 Roadmaps are almost *never* enough as standalone artifacts. There is no possible way one "thing" can communicate so much nuance: assumptions, risk, vision, "the bet", nesting, etc. #prodmgmt #UX #design #Lean
2/8 The need for a "solid roadmap that everyone understands" (without additional conversation/context) is a race to the bottom on some level. You'll succeed, but almost by definition everyone will be missing *something*.
3/8 PMs know this...go low level, people will ask you to go high. Go high, they say get more specific. Get solution based, people will ask for "the problem". The problem... "we need specificity". It is a never ending cycle.

There are many ways to inspire a “sense of urgency” that have nothing to do with estimates/deadlines.

#agile #lean #softwaredevelopment
1. First ... giving enough context so people give a fuck. That’s a start. Otherwise, you can’t expect people to “go the extra mile”...

#agile #softwaredevelopment #ux #devops
2. Let them STOP doing things that are less valuable. Nothing says “you’re free to focus and care” more than freeing people from context switching and multi-tasking.

“What would you like to stop doing, to leave time for this?”
