ICYMI: @SafaricomPLC has introduced an approval feature for M-Pesa cash reversals, heeding to a cry by many customers hit by fraudulent cancellation of transactions before they are concluded. - @NationAfrica
In the new feature, a cancellation of an M-Pesa payment transaction is promptly followed by an automated call from @SafaricomPLC to the affected customer with a request to approve or decline the action as the cash is held by the service provider.
Approval of a reversal transaction means the funds are released back to the sender while in the event of a rejected reversal transaction, both the sender and recipient are required to prove their cases.

Businesses will soon be able to advertise on the M-Pesa app as @SafaricomPLC upgrades the mobile money platform to offer more capabilities beyond payments and cash transfers. - @BD_Africa
The move will open a new revenue line for @SafaricomPLC besides enhancing the attractiveness of the financial service. It will be following other technology firms like Amazon which offers advertising as part of its online retail business.
The planned advertising feature comes after the telco’s parent company @Vodacom Group signed an agreement with China’s Ant Group which runs the popular mobile and online payment platform Alipay that has more than one billion users.

In December of 2019, we got information on something called #Mali which @SafaricomPLC, was working on.
#Mali would be a product that would allow customers to invest as little as Kes100 in Unit Trusts while earning daily interest. This would be accessible via USSD, and customers would be able to add investment via M-Pesa.
.@SafaricomPLC then issued a statement saying the product was still under testing and yet to be approved by regulators.

Ethiopia has cleared the way for @SafaricomPLC to introduce its popular M-Pesa in the market of 110M people after deciding to include the mobile phone-based financial services in the telco’s licence offered in May. - @BD_Africa

Ethiopian authorities told @BD_Africa that the @SafaricomPLC licence will be upgraded to include mobile financial service when it completes bidding for its second telecoms operator permit. The bidding will be opened this month.
A consortium led by @SafaricomPLC secured the first licence, which doesn'tt have a permit for mobile financial services like M-Pesa, in May. The consortium will start ops next year when Ethiopian authorities say the telco will have the right to operate mobile financial services.

FYI: @SafaricomPLC will on Friday 26th March 2021 unveil the 5G network in partnership with Nokia Corporation and Huawei Technologies. The commercial launch follows several trials by Safaricom since 2018 according to media reports. - @kenyanwalstreet
