The problem living in multilingual country like India is that, every region have it's blanket dimension, linguistically excluded from the rest of the country. A person living in one region of the country may never understand the geo local news, articles, poems & songs from
another region of the country due to linguistic difference. Any solution to a problem is at the mercy of that region's collective intellects segregated virtually by a language. Maybe in the near future, translations & comprehension will further 'soak' itself in
the information technology literally. The future of Accessible Design in IoT will be measured by visual comprehension beyond borders & measured by linguistic comprehension within borders, specially in the multilingual sub-continent like India.

Around 3000 BCE in eastern #Europe, a Proto-Balto-Slavic #language started to diverge from #ProtoIndoEuropean.

As the #Slavic-speaking area expanded during the first millennium CE (striped area on map), Proto-Slavic transitioned to Common Slavic. The #language underwent minor changes that occurred mostly uniformly across eastern #Europe, thereby maintaining mutual intelligibility.
Around the year 1000 CE #CommonSlavic began to split into the South, West, and East branches to which all modern #Slavic #languages belong.
Roughly 315m people speak a Slavic #language, mostly in Eastern #Europe (including the #Balkan peninsula), #CentralAsia, and #Siberia.

Thread for non-linguists: The community of academic #linguists are currently pretty angry at #Ethnologue the world's major registry for languages varieties and information because they are monetizing their data and making access subscription based instead of open.

#Ethnologue is the registration authority for ISO 693-3, the official system of language codes. ISO codes are used as labels, so that for a book to be registered in a given language it is tagged by the code for that language. Now linguists have to pay to see the data /2.
Ethnologue is an affiliate of the Summer Institute of Linguistics which is itself an affiliate of Wycliffe Bible Translators. SIL is a missionary organization that has the basic aim of finding out how many languages need their own Bible, and then translate them.
In the early part of the first millennium CE, the #IndoEuropean language known as Proto-#Germanic diverged into an East branch (which included #Gothic) and a Northwest branch.

President Nixon appointed General Vernon Walters as Deputy Director of Central Intelligence in 1972. Vernon spoke French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, Dutch, Chinese and Russian fluently.
Vernon loved #languages and enjoyed a friendly competition with fellow #linguists. He would engage two others in conversation and each time a person spoke, they had to talk in a new language. Once you ran through your repertoire of languages, you were eliminated.
Vernon's linguistic skills afforded him a myriad of opportunities. His simultaneous translation of a speech by Nixon in France prompted President Charles de Gaulle to say, "Nixon, you gave a magnificent speech, but your interpreter was eloquent."
