We’re entering a transformative phase of the #COVID19 pandemic in #Ireland and the impact of this phase on our societies (and within groups in society) will likely be lower with higher vaccine coverage. Those vaccinated will be better protected against illness. 2/5

The travesty is that there are many countries around the globe who are unable to defend their societies adequately due to poor vaccine access. Terrible stories emerging around the world. Those with the most need to do more to protect those without. 3/5

Bob Geldof, líder de los ‘Boomtown Rats’ y protagonista del filme ‘The Wall’, a finales de 1984 lanzó la iniciativa ‘Band Aid’, a la cual fueron convocadas las estrellas del rock en inglés de los años ochenta, el fin era reunir dinero para las víctimas por la hambruna en Etiopía.

La iniciativa fue grabar la canción ‘Do they know it’s Christmas?’, compuesta por el mismo Geldof y Midge Ure, vocalista de ‘Ultravox’; a la convocatoria respondieron: Bono de U2, George Michael, Sting, Phill Collins, Duran Duran, Paul Young, Ultravox, Culture Club, entre otros.

🗓️💵 Ante el éxito de la iniciativa, Geldof se propuso organizar un par de conciertos, uno en Londres y otro en Filadelfia, para recaudar más dinero y la fecha fue el 13 de julio de 1985.
