1/29. 📜NEW BRIEF: Today we launch “PASSED THE POINT OF NO RETURN: A Non-Economic #LossAndDamage (#NELD) Explainer” covering what #NELD is, why and how it happens, where it happens, who is most affected, and importantly, how we can respond.

2/29. The brief begins with a foreword by @UNFCCC NELs Expert Group Member @IrfanUllahCDO, who highlights that Non-Economic #LossAndDamage has been largely overlooked in climate negotiations and that urgent action is needed to address #NELD happening now e.g. The #PakistanFloods.
3/29. Then @DLodry of @LossDamageYouth shares the powerful story of his lived experience of Non-Economic #LossAndDamage in #Cameroon called "The Tears Of A Village River And Its Population" which tells how climate-intensified #Drought can lead to a loss of #Culture and #Identity.

Wow, we’re at 2,999 followers. Incredible! How did we start? June 2016, we decided to set up a deaf-led therapy service, via zoom & f2f. Why? No other service was doing online remote therapies, however it made sense to reach deaf people in places that no one else could.
Interest increased, reviews were good, and NHS & health boards took notice of #DeafTherapiesWork #DeafTherapy Awards were given #bestdeafbusinessstartup #DisabilityEnterpreneurWinner @SteliosPhilFdn £30,000 prize money @LeonardCheshire @ndawards #2deafwalk injection of £30,000.
What did this do? Raise our profile, sustainability & trust developed. We delivered low-cost & accessible therapies to hundreds of deaf people all over the UK. @royaldeaf doubled the £30,000 from #2DeafWalk to £60,000 to create #TalkMore BSL helpline.

This was 2 months after high school graduation. My classmate was missing for 7 months. The devastation & grief were immense after the unexpected loss. We were naïve teenagers facing overwhelming sadness. Eventually her death was ruled a #suicide. #ph260720
In 2016, while living with my best friend, I briefly had a #suicidal roommate. The aftermath of my classmate’s death inspired me to study suicide, but I was not prepared to be the caretaker to a loved one in her time of crisis. #ph260720
About me: I choose #suicidology because I have seen the effects of suicide on families & communities. I am a sociological suicidologist turned #publichealth researcher. Learning from #livedexperiences and using #qualitativemethods in #suicideresearch is important to me. #ph260720

#PatientCentric care, #PtExperience #Tokenism, #HoldingSpace #WeAreBetterTogether ⚠️ long thread.
Recently I attended a meeting of an organization whose focus is in improving #healthcare. This is a highly respected organization. One ☝🏼 of their founding principles is the 1/
engagement of various #stakeholders including #patients and #caregivers. This was not the 1st meeting of this org. I have attended. I walked away from this particular meeting sad, frustrated & a bit angry. The topic was on #patientcentric care. A topic that is near & dear 2/
to me. The caliber of individuals involved was spectacular; academics, researchers, consultants. As I scrolled through participants as well as listened to the conversation and watched the comments come across the screen I was enthralled with the dialogue however 3/

Bravo 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻 to @Alberta_Pain. Pulled up their ‘Conference At a Glance’ & what do I see? People with #livedexperiences on the agenda. Thank you! Recently another #pain conference was held void of those w #livedexperiences. One ☝🏼 presenter, a #physician defended
the absence (or imo exclusion) of those w #livedexperiences by indicating #painpatients would not benefit due to the complexities of the information, nor would this #physician want those with #pain at the conference. My position as a #caregiver as well as advocate for 2/
better pain care, ‘nothing about us without us’ and to be blunt if you have difficulties as a #physician with having those with #livedexperiences participating, you need to evaluate your own issues. As an #American I give kudos to #Canada. I am impressed with their 3/
