1/9 I have purchased a car very recently. So, I went through the usual motions of a large and involved purchase at the time of my decision. This might also give you an insight into the auto sector slowdown #AutoSector #SlowDown #Economyslowdown #economy
2/9 Clean fuel vehicles are coming: Hydrogen fuel cell, & #ElectricVehicles (#BEV & #PHEV) are coming sooner than we thought. Govt envisions an electric mobility future for us & is taking a lot of steps to push EVs under #FAME2 scheme. To reduce pollution & fuel import bill.
3/9 If I buy a regular petrol/diesel car, it may get obsolete sooner than I imagined. Eg: NCR banned 10yr old #diesel vehicles to improve air quality, push towards electric. All this affects resale value of the #cars. Hence, I considered pushing the life of my current car

Thread on some #KeyTakeaways from #LokSabhaElections2019 results:
1. There was always a #Modi wave but the #LeLi Commentariat insisted it was an undercurrent against Modi and #BJP.
2. Losses in Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh in 2018 were an aberration and not a trend. 1/n
3. Vote transfers do not happen between historically hostile parties. Anticipated vote transfer did not happen in #UP. SP-BSP #MahaGathBandhan was nonstarter.
4. Never mind the bunk peddled by pop political analysts. #India would prefers Government with single-party majority. 2/n
5. Mamata Banerjee underestimated Hindu backlash to her brazen Muslim appeasement and pandering to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.
6. She overestimated the ability of party goons to strike fear among voters. It took 34 years for LF to unravel; TMC less than 10 years. 3/n

Requiem for the EVM

What is the position
of the opposition?
"It seems we have lost
But must at any cost
Find some justification

But what could it be
That would with authority
Scrub out our losses
yet please our bosses
And run off with impunity?"

#LokSabhaElections2019
Eureka one said
As he sprang out of bed
This idea's a gem
let's trash the EVM
And cast doubt on the EC instead

So off the cabal went
to make in democracy a dent
They drove in their fancy cars
But emerged in crushed kurtas
To make a straight tale bent

#LokSabhaElections2019
And of course the pliable
And the old reliable
Took their clarion call
From studio to town hall
To prove the EVMs were fallible

And here on twitter
The usual folk were aflutter
"Institutions compromised!"
"Idea of India revised!"
Dragging their souls through the gutter

There has been a history of Gender Based Violence In Politics (#GBVIP) globally, we see a reflection of these instances in India and we need to talk about it — especially now during the #LokSabhaElections2019
Most female candidates and their supporters are routinely confronted with some form of gender-based intimidation, which persuades some women to abandon their campaigns. Aggression most commonly takes the form of verbal harassment during campaign meetings.
It is aimed at embarrassing women by questioning their competency or insulting them with accusations of being prostitutes.

Election Commission of India (ECI) is the body that is tasked with conducting free and fair elections in the country for Parliament and State legislative assemblies. It is comprised of 1 Chief election Commissioner and 2 Election Commissioners
#LokSabhaElections2019 #Gender #ECI
Over the years ECI has done a great deal to improve voter participation and make the process gender responsive
However in the context of rising misogyny and low political participation of women, ECI has not done enough to hold political parties to account
ECI has largely been a male-dominated institution. There have been 23 CECs between 1950 and 2019. Only 1 woman VS Ramadevi has held the post of CEC for 15 days between 26 Nov 1990 to 11 Dec 1990.
