NEW from me @TheSpectator:

With all the attention on #NY03's @Santos4Congress, you'd think he's the only politician to have lied his way into office

Read this thread, you're about to learn a lot about Dems from the state house to the White House

Everywhere liberal journalists look, they see @Santos4Congress. They see him in fellow freshman Republicans Anna Paulina Luna and Andy Ogles, both of whom have recently been accused of fabricating details about the past in newspaper hit pieces.

With the coverage of @Santos4Congress's brief tenure, you’d be forgiven if you thought the new House GOP majority was filled with liars and résumé embellishers — that’s clearly the big picture that Dems and their allies in the press paint.

New from me @TheSpectator:

My Christmas wishlist is fairly simple–I'd love for a ban on @tiktok_us, a Chinese spyware system that's being used by the CCP to spy on Americans

Read on for how I could get my wish!

What do Santa Claus and the Chinese Communist Party have in common?

They both see you when you’re sleeping, and they both know when you’re awake — especially if you have communist spyware like @tiktok_us installed on your phone!

Whether you’re a teenage girl or a government employee with a top secret clearance, @tiktok_us wants to brainwash you and steal your secrets — maybe even both!

The most Trumpian/2020-election focused statewide candidate lost by 25K votes among 2.57 million given.

I am sure it proves right all your hot takes about Biden, Trump, 2020, inflation, democracy, abortion.

Oh, plenty GOPs voted Dems to own Trump so it proves 2 X 0, clowns.
This candidate, @KariLake, won 48% of the GOP Primary vote. By attacking her as a "Trump Candidate," U R saying that 48% of GOP AZ Primary voters are dumb idiots who if not for Trump would choose a candidate of quality.

Ya. Being condescending to your own base is a winner!
Lake's loss in AZ is narrow enough to be put at the feet of GOP voters who are willing to blow up winnable races just to own Trump. This shtick can be done to DeSantis too, so how does this prove a deficiency in "Trump Candidates"?

People want to make every election win/loss about Trump/not Trump.

Trump campaigned endlessly with JDV in OH; he won by 6.6.

Odea in Colorado made anti-Trumpism his banner issue and he lost by double digits.

Zeldin didn't hug or run from Trump and lost by only 5+ in a deep-blue state!

Dems and kept hammering him on Trump. Maybe if he embraced Trump he could've made up the gap from pro-Trumpers since anti-Trumpers anyway got the anti-Trump message from Dems.

Who knows.
Then there is the part of Never/Non-Trumpers saying that X can't win yet those Never/Non-Trumpers either don't vote for X or even actively oppose X. When X loses, the Nevers are all "HAHA. We TOLD YOU they can't win!"

See what @KarlRove did in #PAGov against the GOPer.

Sooooo the #MDprimary is (sort of) over, so here's a thread of noteworthy or fascinating results. Buckle up, friends. (1/X)
On the Republican side, far-right Del. Dan Cox has won the #MDgov nomination to pilot the Hindenburg in November. The Democratic race is too close to call between Wes Moore and Tom Perez, so we'll likely have our first non-white governor.
State Del. Brooke Lierman and Rep. Anthony Brown win the Democratic primaries for Comptroller and State AG. They are both heavily favored against Harford Co. Exec. Barry Glassman (R) and Michael Peroutka, the latter of whom has, er, baggage.

Yes. Marylanders, pay attention to who the Republican nominee for governor is. #MDGov
And here's some background on the extremist GOP nominee for AG, who also won yesterday's primary in Maryland:

Washington Post editorial board frames #MDGOV contest as one between "centrist" Hogan and "unapologetic liberal" Jealous: washingtonpost.com/opinions/the-s…
"To pay for it all, Mr. Jealous would soak the rich — read: Montgomery County — by raising taxes on the top 1 percent of taxpayers."
And not a single mention of one of Hogan's most consequential decisions: killing the new east-west rail transit line for Baltimore and using the money for exurban highways instead.

If your first reaction to Ben Jealous winning is to moan he has no chance against Gov. Hogan, reality check: polls showed Baker was not really a stronger candidate. There's like a 2-point difference in their RCP averages. realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2018/go… realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2018/go…
#MDGov was always going to be a stretch goal for us no matter who we nominate.

Hogan is not a good gov, but he's popular because 1) he's constrained by a Dem state legislature and 2) he criticizes Trump. If we want to win, beating his brand matters more than selecting ours.
Also: if you reflexively dismiss Jealous solely because he backed Bernie Sanders, I suggest you check yourself. He was not a Buster. As a civil rights leader he understood the stakes in the 2016 election, and he has a great platform to boot. I have no bad blood with him.
