Sitting on the couch going through data practice requests and it’s very curious to how the disgraced Carolyn Ham is STILL on paid leave from OIG #mnleg
Carolyn Ham exercised poor judgement in not proactively sharing internal data on CCAP fraud with the OLA and in cozying up to the Minnesota Child Care Association (MMCA) - an organization comprised of members with ties to fraudulent activity.
She showed more interest in managing political ramifications of fraud than making sure fraud itself was investigated.

You know what’s funny? Thinking about elected office (running) and the times. Like, for example, right now I am on city council. #mnleg #GoGreaterMN #JOETOWNROCKS (thread)
I am debating running for mayor. #joetownrocks #Minnesota #GoGreaterMN #womenswork We’ve never had a woman mayor. 😳
But then I think how I’ve also thought about running for governor, #Minneaota has never gone female before on that... but the bottom line? I don’t want to run for office to be the first female anything. #joetownrocks #womenswork #mnleg #GoGreaterMN

THREAD: Trump is coming to Minnesota this week to break our blue wall and flip our state red in 2020. That can’t happen. We’re launching a #MoneyBlizzard to make sure we have the resources to fight back against his hateful campaign. RT & Donate:…
Here’s why this is bad news for Dems everywhere: 1) Donald Trump came within 1.5 percentage points (or 44,470 votes) of winning statewide in Minnesota in 2016. That’s the 2nd closest Democratic state in the country after New Hampshire.
Trump almost winning Minnesota was not a fluke.

Minnesota, one of the last bastions of progressivism in the Midwest, has been trending more and more red in the last few presidential elections.

Police found a handgun loaded with hollow-point bullets in his car trunk, which was parked outside a Minnesota high school: “I’m at school and don’t know what I'm going to do," he wrote a relative. “I seem to lack the fortitude to take this gun out and start shooting.” #mnleg
Four more guns were recovered from his apartment, including a bolt-action rifle; a pump-style Remington rifle; a handgun; and a Ruger 10/22 with a scope and an extended capacity magazine. He also had accessories to enable "fully automatic capabilities."
This is why the Minnesota Senate must pass the Red Flag bill that passed the House. This man had no criminal background and hadn't been adjudicated mentally ill. Right now, Minnesota police can't temporarily remove guns from those who pose a danger to themselves or others.

BREAKING: #mnleg. Feds announced that they will pull $100 million from Minnesota for reinsurance program. Lourey announces this at Senate HHS hearing today.
Sen. Benson lays blame on ACA for MN losing control of its health care system. I would argue that this is really about the Trump administration being an unreliable partner for state innovation and the blame lies with Alex Azar and Seema Verma.
Also this makes it a terrible time to argue for doing away with dedicated funding stream in MN (provider tax) for health care access. Argument has been that feds will take care of MN. But if they're not a reliable partner, as they clearly are not, then that's a major problem

This is absolutely not needed & not in the best interest of family farmers, other rural people, the water or the land. It’s also illegal under Winona Co. ordinances. Our local gov’t shouldn’t even consider changing the rules to let the biggest factory farm in the area get bigger.
And it’s ridiculous that the proposer is not willing to acknowledge the role of factory farms like his in driving small & mid-size family farms off the land. Of course there’s a connection. It’s simple math: we can have more farms or bigger farms. Not both.
And nothing about consolidation in agriculture is inevitable. It’s all a matter of public policy choices. Let’s make the right ones.

What could rural MN communities do with $139 Million instead of a corporate handout to a prison?

As an elected person in rural MN, let me make a list for you.

Remember all those roads and bridges in bad condition that we keep talking about?

They’re definitely not getting better with age.
Ask a couple of City Managers in real Minnesota about the condition of their water and sewer systems. $139 Million wouldn’t even come close to solving this BASIC HUMAN NEED for thousands of rural people.
