On 28 June 1999, Major Padmapani Acharya as a Company Commander of 2 RAJ RIF was assigned the formidable task of capturing an enemy position which was heavily fortified, strongly held and covered with mines and sweeping machine gun and artillery fire.
Success of the battalion and brigade operation hinged on the early capture of this position.
However the company attack almost faltered at the very beginning when the enemy's artillery fire came down squarely on the leading platoon, inflicting large numbers of casualties.

In 1999, as the #Kargil conflict started, Capt Kenguruse was a junior commander with 2nd Battalion The #RajputanaRifles. For his determination and prowess, he was made the lead commander of the #GhatakPlatoon of his unit.
On 28 June night, Capt. Kenguruse’s platoon was given the responsibility of taking out a strategic machine gun post held by the enemy on a cliff face, the Black Rock. Heavy gun fire from this position had been hindering the battalion’s progress in the sector for days.

However, known to a few, Pakistani Submarine Ghazi was already on the prowl on the Eastern coast of India since end-Nov - its target, the aircraft carrier #INSVikrant - the pride of #IndianNavy (2/n).

In fact, from 27 Nov onwards, PNS Ghazi hung around 5-10 miles off the harbour entrance, armed with torpedoes & mines, waiting for Vikrant.

Capt Mulla was commanding the 14th anti submarine sqn, a task force which formed part of the Western Fleet.
The sqn consisted of the INS Khukri (F149), INS Kirpan (F144) & INS Kuthar (F146). The sqn was tasked to hunt & destroy enemy submarines in the North Arabian Sea
At 2050 hours on 09 December 1971, INS Khukri, was hit by a torpedo fired by an enemy submarine, PNS Hangor, about 64 kms off Diu.

As a Rifleman, Lance Havildar Dil Bahadur Chhetri, #MahaVirChakra led a daring khukri charge eliminating 8 Pakistani soldiers at Atgram, during the Battle of Sylhet, December 1971.
4/5 #GorkhaRifles (FF) was given the specific task of clearing a well-fortified Medium Machine Gun (MMG) enemy post at Atgram. Then Rifleman Chhetri, with complete disregard to his personal safety, fought fearlessly, charged the bunker, killed eight enemy troops with his khukri

In October 1947, soon after the partition, thousands of raiders assisted by Pakistani regulars invaded J & K all along its border. Brigadier Rajendra Singh, Chief of Military Staff, J & K State Forces took over the command of a relief column and proceeded to check the raiders.
Another column with all available troops (nearly 100) was dispatched on 23 Oct 1947 to join Brig Singh with orders from Maharaja Hari Singh “Brigadier Rajendra Singh is commanded to hold the enemy at Uri at all costs and to the last man...“ #LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳

In 1947 Pakistan sent tribal irregulars into the princely state of Jammu & Kashmir in an attempt to capture it and accede it to Pakistan. Brig Usman, then commanding the 77th Parachute Brigade, was sent to command the 50th Parachute Brigade, deployed at Jhangar in December 1947.
On 25 December 1947, with the odds stacked heavily against the brigade, Pakistani forces captured Jhangar. . On that day Brig Usman took a vow to recapture Jhangar a feat he accomplished three months later, but at the cost of his own life.
