@MentallyAwareNG @julietkego There are several barriers to mental health advocacy but primarily we must consider the dearth of awareness and education. I also don’t know much about the “Mental Health Act” in Nigeria if any such exists. I believe it is time we advocate for this. #ManiVC2018
@MentallyAwareNG @julietkego My approach to Advocacy has always been from the policy angle first looking into the enabling laws then walking back to the political will of engagement of the people and raising awareness. But for Mental Health we need more Independent Mental Health Advocates IMHA. #ManiVC2018
@MentallyAwareNG @julietkego Volunteers within the health sector and outside must be specially trained to work within the framework of the enabling Act of parliament of the country. This should also be extended to curriculum studies for inclusion in the education sector. #ManiVC2018
