We love Black people more than we hate white supremacy.
When we started organizing under this name in 2015, it was because received death threats as individuals. Tacoma didn't have a big protest scene, and it was hella easy for people to make us targets. As Black women, we needed to protest ourselves.
Before an officer drove into a crowd downtown last night, tensions were already high between the public and Tacoma PD. The department is at the center of a state investigation into the death of #ManuelEllis. We're awaiting a charging decision from @AGOWA.

Ellis was killed in TPD custody in March. The narrative from police hasn't matched videos that were subsequently released, and the investigating agency has been criticized for conflicts of interest, so the state stepped in. @knkxfm has followed this story from the beginning.

Last night TPD arrested and charged two known organizers, @DailyTacoma and our own @ohdamn_jam.
So many people acted quickly, and we were able to make sure they both made bail.

Today we #ShutDownSTEM & #ShutDownAcademia. I'm going to spend most of today educating myself about the lived experiences of black people and listening to as much black music and comedy as I can, and I'm going to share it with all 301 of my twitter followers.
