In the midst of the corona pandemic, the city administration of the Brazilian metropolis of Rio de Janeiro wants to let soccer spectators into the famous Maracanã stadium again.
"On October 4th we will have the first game of the Brazilian championship after the pandemic with fans," says Rio's Mayor Marcelo Crivella. According to the schedule, the match between Flamengo Rio de Janeiro and Athletico Paranaense will take place on that day.
According to Mayor Crivella, 20,000 spectators, a third of the full capacity of the Maracanã, will be allowed. The Brazilian Football Association has yet to agree.
