One thing counties should have done is to recognise heroes at the county level. There is this issue in Central Kenya where many of the musicians who were big stars and passed on have left their families in a lot of misery.

These people contributed a lot to the community. They maybe unknown outside the region but that doesn't make them less of heroes. Counties ought to have programmes and funds towards recognising heroes.
Similar cases abound even regarding heroes in the world of sports. The only heroes who are never forgotten are the political ones. We need to change this culture.

Let’s do brunch first:

đź“ŤMode Cafe - Kilimani

This place is pretty new, possibly 2 months old? They went really simple on decor: muted tones & an open plan space which makes it seem bigger than it is, there’s some outside seating but majority is indoors. #nairobieats
The menu is quite limited, which may concern some but for what they offer I think the menu fits. We had some coffees, the Chicken and Waffle (950/), Shakshuka (1200/), Apple Crumble French toast (900/) and Prawn tempura (1300/) #nairobieats
The chicken & waffle comes with scrambled eggs on top, I don’t eat eggs so had that substituted with mushrooms. I enjoyed this a lot mostly because of the combination of flavours (sweet + savoury is always my jam), the fried chicken was delicious! #nairobieats

Happy mashujaa day to all sons and daughters of the true heroes.

Happy #MashujaaDay to the living and deceased members of the Mau Mau movement.

The betrayal of the Mau Mau fighters by Jomo Kenyatta was so loud. We can't forget.

#HistoryKeThread: Kenya’s history is replete with irony. Image
We previously had a national holiday known as Kenyatta Day. Through the new constitution, Kenyans decided “Mashujaa Day” was more appropriate a name to recognize all heroes collectively.
But the day is celebrated on 20th October because it was on that day in 1952 that nationalists led by Mzee Jomo Kenyatta were arrested for “managing Mau Mau”.
