1/ The #HebronMassacre happened 90 years ago on Shabbat Ekev. This was no "ordinary" massacre, like maybe 10 minutes of #MassShootings leaving 67 dead. Each one was horribly tortured in unimaginable ways.
In this thread, I bring the GRAPHIC DETAILS, because the world should know.
2/ All the details were published at the time in the following newspapers: Haaretz Sep. 1st ; Doar Hayom Sep. 2nd +Sep. 6th, 1929 and so on on other papers like Davar.
More details were published later on in September when the victims were taken out of their graves to check them.
3/ Nobody escaped the #Arab terrorists cruelty. They used knives, daggers, clubs, swords. Starting with the babies, they cut their heads, gave them to their mothers until they were murdered too.
The 9 months old Abushdid baby was among them.

#MassShooting perpetrators all share common negative themes in their lives.

These are “inadequacy and isolation.”

In a society dominated by masculinity, those who are isolated and inadequate feel especially weak.

It’s also why mass shooters are mostly men.
#GunReform
Not all #MassShootings are politically motivated.

In the case of #Dayton and the #LasVegasShooting, it’s hard to nail down a specific motive.

But they both shared an isolation and a feeling of inadequacy.

People who knew them said they “kept to themselves.”
#GunReformNow
The #DaytonShooter was “quiet” and had “hit lists” full of women who’d rebuffed his advances.

The #LasVegasShooter was described as a private person, who was thought to have “desired notoriety” like his father, who was on the FBI’s “Most Wanted List.”

Inadequacy and isolation.

Since the 1996 Dickey Amendment, the CDC has been forbidden to research the public health epidemic of #GunViolence in the United States. Lucky for you, I don’t work for the CDC but am a scientist who recently spent some time gathering evidence from publicly available information.
Listen: one of the coolest things about the United States is that it serves as a natural experiment. We can look at all of the differences among our states to ask and answer meaningful questions.
What every American should be asking themselves right now is this: what is the evidence that guns are not the problem, that good people with guns stop bad people with guns, or that gun control doesn’t work?

What are they celebrating with radiant smiles, thumbs up and selfies? 34 dead in 2 states in a week--from mass shootings. 22 in El Paso. 9 in Dayton. 3 in Gilroy. In 2019, 62 killed in mass shootings. Hundreds wounded. As the Trumps beam and pose, 680 arrested in Mississippi...
...laborers at the Kochs chicken processing factories. Children are left in schools and in the streets without parents. Neighbors take them to gyms to await their fate while their parents are taking away, handcuffed. The Republicans are speaking of "Hispanic Invasion."
Is this the time to smile wide? But don't blame it all on the sociopaths in power. Anyone smiling wide in these photos from the official White House Flicker account (no copyright, use as you wish) flickr.com/photos/whiteho…

No #RedFlagLaws 🚩 #Congress.
The laws are already in place. Liberal Judge's PC B💩S keeps the records of insane people's threats off government records. I believe in 1st Amendment rights, but you can't holler fire or bomb in a theater or make threats on anyone. #MassShootings 🙏
Federal Firearms prepurchase form filled out by firearms purchasers. Criminal records, drug use and mental illness all covered. More laws will not stop the "MONSTERS ".
#RedFlagLaws🚩 only open the door to false accusations against anyone made by anyone anytime. 1 phone call & 🚔
Millions of people have died in the name of "SAFETY" over "LIBERTY".
America is such a great nation because we have the right to self defense. This situation we find ourselves in is about #Democrats "CONTROL OF THE PEOPLE". #GunControl = No guns = 💀.

I want to have an honest discussion about the AR15, AK47’s and #massshootings.

I’ll tell you from the viewpoint of a Marine, with extensive training on these weapons, how they elevate violence, are terrible for selfdefense, and shouldn’t be on our streets.
#ElPaso #Dayton
If we’re talking about personal security, whether in your home, your store, or out on the street— nothing is more effective than a can of bear spray.

The last thing I’d reach for is a long rifle or a handgun.

So the idea of “self defense”
as a reason to own them is ridiculous.
As someone with more weapons training than most Americans, I know how firearms can fail you in a rushed response to a threat.

And anyone who’s on drugs, who might be immune to bear spray, would also take several shots from a firearm— even if they’re well-placed.

As an American, as a Texan, as a person of mixed race with an Hispanic family, and as a scientist, I turned my anger and sadness from these weekend’s mass shootings into an opportunity to take a closer look into the public health epidemic of #GunViolence in the United States.
A diverse melting pot of people and ideas, our country sets the stage for a natural experiment across state lines in which we can use the variation across states to actually test ideas and hypotheses, including the effects of guns and gun laws on gun violence.
Common assertions are that guns do not cause violence, people do; the way to stop bad people with guns is good people with guns; and strict gun laws are ineffective at stopping gun violence because people will find a way to get them.

#EnoughIsEnough.

Antifa isn't murdering people. MS-13 isn't gunning down hundreds.

The Trump regime set the stage for these #massshootings.

They have vilified their critics while ending programs that track dangerous, fringe groups.

These ARE #TrumpsTerrorists.
First Trump shut down programs to counter violent extremism.

The administration has hobbled the infrastructure designed to prevent atrocities like Pittsburgh and Christchurch. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
When Fighting Domestic Terrorism, You Get What You Pay For

The Trump administration has gutted the budget for fighting far-right extremists, making it harder to stop attacks like the Pittsburgh massacre. foreignpolicy.com/2018/11/01/whe…

1/ Dear @SpeakerPelosi,

I understand that you’re being methodical in your approach regarding your investigation into Trump’s misconduct. I also recognize your position in wanting to protect vulnerable House seats that might be in jeopardy with an impeachment inquiry.
2/ It’s evident that the @SenateGOP has no intention in passing legislation that would secure our elections, keep us safe from gun violence, or hold Trump accountable for his misconduct, but there must be something in-between impeachment and the current investigation into Trump.
3/ Trump threw gasoline on the simmering fire of this country’s bigotry and xenophobia when he declared his candidacy. In the last few weeks Trump directed his racist ideas towards Black/POC Congressional members. He lit a powder keg and has put their lives in danger.

American culture’s gun worship is a function of white identity politics.

In a sane world, we‘d all be able to rally around common sense gun law reforms in the wake of daily carnage.

We can’t because white identity is now entwined with an ahistorical view of the 2nd Amendment.
“What we do know is that the NRA, historically, supported gun control laws when those laws targeted black Americans, including the 1967 Mulford Act and 1968 Federal Gun Control Act, intended to disarm the Black Panthers and similar activist organizations.”
medium.com/s/story/the-ra…
We wouldn’t have to repeal the Second Amendment to do sane things to reduce gun violence and #massshootings like in El Paso. But those who thrive on white identity politics will tell you it’s the only other option—or point to red herrings like video games.

Late news update has interviews from #UPSshooting in NJ.
Disheartening.
Family members of the man who took his ex-girlfriend & another woman hostage blame the ex, who fortunately was only injured, not killed.
She was at work.
He came with a gun to kill her.
She's the victim.
