Few things annoy me more than Americans' naive belief in their alleged "checks & balances." Face it! Trump controls the executive as the "grownups" have turned out to be a bunch of cowards unwilling to criticize the "sitting president" (cf Jim Mattis).
2. Next, the naivists point to the Congress, but the Senate agenda & thus the Congress as a whole is controlled by one man, the @senatemajldr commonly recognized as #MoscowMitch and #MassacreMitch since Russian & NRA funding seem to be his sole driving forces.
3. The third leg is the Supreme Court, which has a GOP majority of 5-4, which determined the presidential election in 2000. Our only hope is Chief Justice John Roberts, who seems to be the last powerful man in Washington who stands for some values, but for how long?
