So many of our beloved elders have transitioned to ancestors in recent wks. Today was the homegoing for Mrs. Annie Kinkead, First Lady of #Mattapan. I consider myself blessed to be one of her many adopted nieces. She was a dear sister friend to my mother & will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Kinkead's joy, laughter & activism, could not be contained. She proved there is no shelf life when it comes to civic engagement. She & Mr. Kinkead, (her partner in good & life) were great role models as community builders & also in Black love & matrimony.
I find some solace knowing they've been reunited. I know my Mom & the Kinkeads are dressed to the nines, laughing, dancing, reminiscing from on high right now.

6yrs ago, Jump Into Peace (JIP) was est. to honor #girls & #women who were victims of #gunviolence, it was a way to specifically honor the victims of the quadruple #Mattapan shooting, many of whom jumped doubledutch competitively as The Ropeburners
