We have been trained so hard by capitalism to believe if it's not behind a fence it must be worthless that a lot of people can't grok a monetization model that is about voluntarily paying for content that remains free, and assume the "product" must be the small amount that's not.
I am a #maxfundrive supporter because I love that it combines the old idea of podcasts being freely available via an open and decentralized standard with the idea we should be paying creators to make the art that we enjoy and consume.
And I love that I'm not just paying to get access, I'm paying to give it to everyone else! Paying so without the means can still listen, so new listeners can freely discover podcasts without upfront cost, so I can tell friends and fam "you should listen to this ep you'd love it"
