It’s time we break down the myth (promoted by Trump) and reality behind GOP tax cuts, which became law almost two years ago today. As Vice Chair @RepMaloney noted, “Americans would be right to feel cheated” by the tax law. This thread shows why. (1/7) jec.senate.gov/public/index.c…
TRUMP MYTH: Tax cuts would boost GDP growth to as high as 6% annually.

REALITY: In the seven quarters since the tax cuts became law, GDP growth has been the same as in the seven prior quarters—roughly 2.5%. #2YearsOfTCJA (2/7)
TRUMP MYTH: Tax cuts would spur massive growth in business investment.

REALITY: Business investment has decelerated since the tax cuts became law, even contracting in the past two quarters. #GOPTaxScam (3/7)

The £75m bonus paid to the Persimmon boss equates to ~£5,200 per home. According to @theCCCuk housing report the cost of building to #Passivhaus standard is £4,800 per home. #Priorities

theccc.org.uk/publication/uk… theguardian.com/business/2018/… @RupertNeate @RHarrabin @MollyMEP
For the sake of accuracy the 14,500 homes figure came from the mobile site (m.persimmonhomes.com/about).
Main site says ~16,000 homes (persimmonhomes.com/about) so bonus is only worth about ~£4,700 per home

Still, this excludes bonuses to other execs, dividends etc.
Persimmon are probably not alone here (they just happened to make the headlines), it just that when numbers align like this it strikes a chord and puts the claim that £££ is the barrier to building more efficient homes into perspective.
