Working non-stop for about 16 hours daily for the past one month, the temporary sanitary workers hired for the beautification of #Mahabalipuram say they have not been paid even one rupee so far. #ModixijinpingMeet #ModiXiSummit @xpresstn @NewIndianXpress
Some of these workers are daily wage laborers under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural National Employment Guarantee Act. These workers fear, the Mahabalipuram Town Panchayat would compensate them with the meager MGNREGA wage instead of paying them separately.
Unlike the cotton/resin gloves or bigger brooms with brush provided for permanent civic body employees, the temporary workers hired were given low quality polytene gloves & stick brooms.

Do you know the story of the rock that's behind Modiji ?
It's a world wonder & a miracle
It's defies gravitational force theory
250 ton rock boulder known as Krishna’s Butterbal is a massive 20 feet high & 5 meter wide rock stands on a
slippery slope of a hill on less than 4-ft base
It is called as Krishna’s butterball because butter is his favourite food and it is a myth that it falls from heaven
It is also known as ‘Vaanirai Kal’ in Tamil which means‘Stone of the Sky God’.
The position of the rock is so surprising that it looks like it will roll down the slope
But, it stands still firm & tourists can even take shade under it. Even it is unmoved by Tsunami, earthquakes or cyclones for over 1200yrs old
Isn’t strange that whatever be the

I must confess I sometimes feel ashamed that till a few years ago I hadn't even heard of the Kailasa temple, majestic and beautiful, cut out of a single cliff. Unique in its size. For some reason it's just called cave no 16 at Ellora complex and never used as a symbol of India
One hears of Ellora and Ajanta and yet Kailasa is lesser known. Met some other adults who hadn't heard of it. It's a must visit. A full temple complex with a large shivling on first floor.

It's good to see #Mahabalipuram heritage on display today during #ModiXiSummit
Here are some more pics

Folks, I don’t have time to write an article, so here’s my two-cents on the upcoming #ModiXisummit (informal) in Wuhan. I’m seeing a lot of brouhaha being played by the Indian media, think-tankies regarding the “reset”, “thaw” in relations.
1)The meeting draws on the similar format of reset and informal meets organised by Xi for Obama in 2013 and the Mar-a-lago summit hosted for Xi by Trump last year. Both have failed to bring any kind of reset. Instead there is a trade war looming between China and USA now
2)no formal/informal talks can belie the deep distrust both India and China have for each other, deeply drilled through history and contemporary strategic realities. The summit, while attempting “reset” after Doklam might at best be talking shop, garden walks and photo-ops
