Hateshwari Mata : #Thread
I believe you know about "Mahisasurmardini" and how Maa Durga got this name. This temple at Hatkoti, Shimla, is dedicated to Hateshwari Mata who took Avtaara to slay Mahishasura, as per Janashrutis'. Trust me this #thread is going to mesmerize you.
The foundation of the temples was laid way back during the Gupta period (6th -9th century AD) . According to Legends, Temple was established by Pandvas during "Agyatwas" and also Janashrutis' are It was set up by Adi Shankaracharya.
Interesting fact about Astadhatu idol "it changes its expression" sometimes"has a smiling face and sometimes a angry posture" the idol has such effect on the devotee that he take off his eyes from the idol. On both sides of the idol there is something written in Brahmi script.
