Gi-jeong describes the pick-up girl as the "noblest romance": If need be, she would gently pick up her loverâs severed head. She wants an abundant love, not shying away from gore. Given the bible references in MLN, this may even allude to Salome demanding John the Baptistâs head.

I wonder if Oh Hae Young Again would have been the same drama w/another director less inclined to pursue the âcomedyâ of the rom-com angle. Iâm not sure if PHY wrote it with the same intentions as the director; the comedy in it is a whiplash from the crucial themes of the show.
Knowing PHY is repeating a lot of the same themes (even the same lines) with MLN, I think the tonal whiplash of OHY is largely attributable to directorial choices â these choices worked in the directorâs other drama (Marriage Over Dating) but less so with PHYâs work.
