Nigeria has made a lot of progress in preparing and responding to disease outbreaks and epidemics. I remember my early days of public health; some 15yrs ago it's @WHONigeria that prepared and shared the #weeklyepidemiological report for Nigeria... a thread!

For every outbreak or public health emergency in Nigeria, we heard more about @WHO who appeared to be at the forefront with @Fmohnigeria and its agencies; old #NPI which merged with @NphcdaNG fought #polio with the support of @WHO @UNICEF @Rotary etc.

With time the #Epidemiology unit of @Fmohnigeria grew in strength and capacity to lead the response. They also produced and sent out the weekly epidemiology reports for Nigeria, which hitherto was shared by @WHONigeria in collaboration with FMOH for sure. #Clap4NCDC

Further clarification on treatment for #Covid19.

I never intended to prescribe a cure treatment for #Covid19.

THREAD.
I wish to clarify that I published the drugs I took when I was declared positive for covid19.
I did this in response to private calls and responses to my posts, asking me what treatment I was given.
Hence, in response, I published the medications I took.
The chloroquine regime like all other treatment regimes used all over the world is not sacrosanct and there is not sufficient clinical evidence that it is the treatment of cure. #COVID

A Legislature exists primarily to give checks and balances to other arms of government on behalf of the people.

We ask that @nassnigeria led by @femigbaja not to pass an #InfectiousDiseaseBill that could give individuals unchecked power over the rest of Society.
1. The #InfectiousDiseaseBill is supposed to give legal structure to public management of infectious disease outbreaks like the extant #COVID19 pandemic.

But what it does is make the head of the #NCDC and the Minister of Health powerful enough to be legal tools of Dictatorship.
2. Nigeria is supposedly a democracy and laws should be drafted with the intent to help build proper institutions that can be trusted and checked to treat people equally and fairly.

@nassnigeria should not enact laws that make gods out of men.

In just 6 TWEETS, I would show you how you have been LEAVING MONEY on the table just because you do not know how to use a DESIGN SOFTWARE.

So I get that you have been looking for a business you can do this lockdown that would bring in some cash...

#AThread #lockdownhustle Image
#1 There is this simple principle I followed when I was looking for a side business to quickly start. I call it the SHELF test.

SKILL: So I have it forever
HIGH DEMAND: so I can never go broke with it.
EASY: So I can start as soon as possible.

#lockdownhustle #NCDC Nigeria
LOW RISK: I didn't have money to lose
FLEXIBLE: So it doesn’t disturb my day job and can be done anywhere.

I ran several popular skills through this test including PROGRAMMING and #FOREX, but they fell short and I would tell you why shortly

#COVID19 is here to teach us a lesson; I hope we learn. Nigeria’s healthcare is unhealthy. But instead of fixing it, our rulers have been busy flying up & down abroad.
If we survive COVID-19, we need a law to restrict all public officials from seeking medical care abroad.
#Thread
With #COVID19, reality is upon us. No more running overseas for medical vacation. Our rulers cannot travel to the United Kingdom, United States of America or India anymore for medical care. These countries are also hanging on their last breath, battling to survive the pandemic.
In 2017, President @MBuhari Buhari spent 103 days in London receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed illness, spending taxpayers’ money instead of investing in the country’s healthcare. Thousands of Nigerians died in the same period from different illnesses. #COVID19

*STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE: PRESIDENT BUHARI URGES PRECAUTION, NOT FEAR ON CORONAVIRUS CASES*

Nigeria, like every other country around the world, is dealing with the unexpected & unprecedented impact of the #COVID19 pandemic. The @MBuhari admin has taken some steps to mitigate
the effects on the Nigerian people.

To prevent the spread of cases imported into Nigeria, the President has already ordered the restrictions of travel from 13 countries, each with more than 1,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Govt has also suspended visas issued to nationals of
these countries. The restriction will take effect from March 21 and will remain until further notice. While Nigeria delights in welcoming the world, the safety and protection of our citizens and land must take priority.

If done well, contact tracing and case isolation is enough to control a #COVID19 in India over 3 months. Delays in identifying cases and incomplete contact tracing results in decreased probability of interrupting the transmission. thelancet.com/journals/langl… 1ofn #Covid19India
Under best-case assumptions, screening will miss more than half of infected people. Most cases missed by screening are undetectable because they have not yet developed symptoms, are unaware they were exposed or have taken paracetamol to mask fever. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P… 2ofn
#India has done exceptionally well in changing the course of what could have been a potentially devastating outbreak. Thanks to @ProfBhargava @ICMRDELHI @icmr_nie @Director_NCDC for the extraordinary measures and leadership in tackling the evolving situation. #Covid19India 3ofn
