MUST READ from @WhatleyNCGOP: Governor @RoyCooperNC's response to the #COVID19 crisis has put our most vulnerable population at risk because he failed to provide decisive leadership when it mattered. (1/5)
Unfortunately, this fits a pattern with the Governor. When hurricanes ravaged Eastern NC, he held a lot of press conferences, but failed to get relief dollars to affected families and farms. (2/5)
When riots broke out across the state earlier this year, he allowed mobs to destroy small businesses and monuments while failing to provide appropriate support for local law enforcement and marched with the protestors. (3/5)

1/ In the week ending 7/11, North Carolina received 26,861 initial claims for regular #UnemploymentInsurance, down from 27,937 the week before. A year ago, the total number of initial claims was 3,397. #NCeconomy
2/ Additionally, North Carolina received 20,563 initial claims for the new Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) program, which covers certain workers normally ineligible for unemployment insurance. The figure a week earlier was 23,606. (NC began accepting PUA claims on 4/24.)
3/ Since the roll out of the PUA program, the number of new PUA claims in North Carolina has rivaled the number of initial claims for regular benefits. This illustrates how many workers normally are excluded from the regular program. #NCeconomy #ncpol

It appears all of the Cooper Administration officials are wearing masks before they enter the room today...

#NCGov: We asked schools to develop 3 plans a few weeks ago. Districts are still working on those. We want schools open for in-person instruction in August.
No statewide directive today.
"But we will soon."

#NCGov: We're delivering PPE to schools. Thanks to everyone in the schools. My mom was a teacher.
A few schools are scheduled to start in July. They should do remote learning until we tell them what the plan is.
We need everyone to do The Three Ws!

NC Health Secretary leads off today's briefing with a focus on long-term care & nursing home outbreaks.

Touts Governor's "decisive action" early on.

Now Dr. Cohen is touting proactive testing plan.
To begin next week,

Reminder: States were advised to get tests done in all nursing homes in early May.
So, it seems NC is about 2 months late on this.

As #NCpol reporters dial into the @NC_Governor's #COVID19nc briefing, the #NCGov's comms team is sorting them into groups:
1. Those who will get to ask Qs
2. Those who won't
Gov. Cooper's team has been doing this for months while reporters asked why they're not getting to ask Qs.
@NC_Governor For months, reporters have been complaining on Twitter about why they're not getting called on to ask questions. And all that time, the #NCGov's comms team has been taking active steps to block them from getting that chance.
Fathom that level of deception.

@NC_Governor Had it not been for the @nsjnews investigating, nobody in the #NCpol press corps would've known (or probably cared) that Emergency Operations solicited a Democrat-aligned organizing firm to run these #NCGov briefings.
Does that seem odd to YOU? It does to me.

Last week, hundreds of students whose parents fought, were injured or died in war were told NC Dept of Military & Veterans Affairs would cut room & board allowance in half. It still hasn't paid any scholarship $, despite promises to do so #ncpol #ncgov wbtv.com/2019/12/05/chi…
As a result of the cut--which wasn't announced until last week--schools are now demanding students re-pay money that had already been credited towards their account. Students/parents are dealing with this uncertainty during finals and as the holidays approach #ncpol #ncgov
In October, @NC4VETS Sec. Larry Hall told me the scholarships would get paid. They still haven't. Since then, I've heard from parents across the state who say they've been financially impacted by the scholarship money not being paid #ncpol #ncgov wbtv.com/2019/10/31/sch…

So this is pretty weird. McCrory won Bladen County 52%-46%. But he lost absentee by-mail in Bladen 61%-38%. The only voting method he lost in the county. McCrory also won statewide absentee by-mail voting in 2016. Hmm. 🤔 Seems like more ?s to be asked. #NC09 #NCPOL
Hold on. Turns out those questions were already asked and the @NCDemParty labeled the claims “over the top and completely false.” Contrast that with what the party is saying about the exact same allegations in 2018. #NCPOL newsobserver.com/news/politics-…
Now @RoyCooperNC’s handpicked @NCSBE Chairman Joshua Malcolm says that there have been “unfortunate activities” happening in his area for a “number of years.” Just how many years are we talking about here? And what races have been affected by these activities? #NCPOL
