As New Mexicans continue to see massive impacts on our economy due to Covid-19, I believe there are a lot of unanswered questions out of Santa Fe.

Here are a few. Some of these I've asked before, but haven't found the answers.

#nmpol #nmleg
1. Santa Fe's leaders often promote our efforts behind contact tracing.

What are the most common situations in which New Mexicans are contracting Covid-19? At home? At work? Group Settings?

Do our public health orders reflect the places most at risk?
2. The American Academy of Pediatrics is strongly recommending school children be "physically present in school." -…

Why has NM adopted a hybrid model? Any concerns about the impact of parents who have to now deal with staying at home again?

The fact that the $18 billion permanent fund is a sacred cow used as an insurance policy against “higher taxes” while children of color experience some of the worst child wellbeing outcomes in the country is an example of institutional racism..
The permanent fund was created at statehood, with the feds taking “choice land” that at the time belonged to Native Americans and Hispanic land grants to create what’s now the permanent fund...
If the #nmleg is serious about dismantling racist systems of oppression, they can start by fully funding ECE to ensure that children of color are afforded every opportunity to get a healthy start in life...

THEY DID IT!!! New Mexico is the 18th state to adopt a red flag law. @GovMLG just signed the Extreme Risk Firearm Protection Order Act, enabling law enforcement to petition a court for an order to temporarily remove guns from a person in crisis. #nmleg #nmpol
After working for years to pass gun safety laws in New Mexico - and to change the makeup of the statehouse - @MomsDemand volunteers helped elect a gun sense legislature and Governor in 2018. In 2019, New Mexico became the 21st state to require background checks on all gun sales.
Of the 18 states and the District of Columbia that have now passed extreme risk legislation, 13 of these bills were passed since the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida in 2018.

Next: Virginia’s General Assembly will hold final votes on an extreme risk bill as soon as this week.

THEY DID IT!!! After months of activism and three hours of lawmaker debate today, the Extreme Risk Protection Order bill was passed. The bill now goes to @GovMLG for her signature, which will make New Mexico the 18th state with a red flag law. #nmleg…
That makes THREE gun safety bills passed in the last year in New Mexico!

After trying to pass good gun bills unsuccessfully in New Mexico for years, @MomsDemand volunteers helped elect a gun sense majority to the legislature in November 2018. #NMleg
This legislative win is poignant given that the Parkland mass shooting tragedy happened exactly 2 years ago today.

Since then, 12 states passed red flag laws, bringing the total to 17. We expect New Mexico and Virginia to become 18 and 19 in 2020. #nmleg…
