Ok, here’s a story about #DAOs, their evolution, and their on-chain/off-chain nature.

Back in 2014, @VitalikButerin wrote what is essentially Ethereum’s original position paper on this subject, the famous DAO/DAC post on ethereum.org.

👇👇
DAOs were quite abstract concepts back then, there were no such things in production.

There was also a sense that DAOs were something new, a revolutionary species of digital organization. And that they didn’t exist before because it was *smart contracts* that enabled them.
It should be no surprise, then, that the first DAOs put a heavy emphasis on codifying their functionality on-chain, within smart contract logic.

Russia-based dev Yaffle altered 'event-source-polyfill' #npm package in March to show anti-war messages to Russians, as a a peaceful protest.

This marks the THIRD major #opensource self-sabotage of 2022: npm package is downloaded 600K weekly and used by 135,000+ GitHub repos.
After printing the Russian language, the package opens up the user's web browser and directs them to a Change[.]org petition, 'NetVoyne' — signed by over 1.2 million people already.
'event-source-polyfill' further advises Russian civilians to be wary of "one-sided" news channels controlled by the Russian government and to seek reliable news sources such as BBC's Tor website:

Image

I spoke about how #JavaScript module bundlers (those things like #Webpack) work under the hood yesterday at @coderful!

🗒Here's a short-ish summary:

1/
TLDR: Module bundlers like Webpack are not "complicated" or "magic" per se, the practice of module bundling is a complicated matter and you need to understand it before you can fully understand what a module bundler does and how to configure it correctly! 🩄

2/
Why do we need module bundlers? Several reasons:

- Today we rely a lot on third-party software (e.g. modules from #npm)
- There are many different standards for JavaScript modules
- We want to write code in a way that is convenient and just "compile" it for the browser
